 I can probably get as high with my H80i temps are fine, you aren't throttling at all so all good That is my CPU so I'll redo the thermal paste to the best of my ability, and I'll de-dust my case. Most of the time during the rendering it was below 74, but i saw it flash 75 in CPUID HWMonitor a few times here and there.  Rendering videos much heavier than gaming, especially for a hyperthreaded CPU. My 4790K (also with a hyper 212 evo, at stock speeds) can grt as high as 80-90C if its under 100% load for longer than half an hour. Though mine is in a really small case, so I probably have less airflow. I wouldnt worry about mid 70's temps with that though. I redid the thermal paste and I noticed I put a tad bit too much previously, and I also had the heatsink oriented in an illogical way. So I made it blow out with the only exhaust I have in the back, and dusted as best as I could. Hopefully this all helps a noticable amount. sniffythebird (01/03/2016) [-]  It wasn't properly spread out the first time (did the dot in the middle method, but it wasn't perfectly centered, and part of the heatspreader had no paste on it when I took the cooler off). It was also rotated in a weird way just like yours. It used to be 90 degrees around with the fan on top of the graphics card and blowing air up. I was testing positive air pressure with the front fans rear fan being intakes, top exhaust. Now I turned the rear fan around and have the cooler like in this pic. All together it dropped it's long term full load (30+ minutes at 100% usage) temps from average 90C and down to 85C, and it's short term peaks (only lasting a second or so) from 94C to 90C. Still pretty hot, but I'm not using this PC for anything else than gaming, so the CPU isn't nearly as hot during regular use (65-75C while playing GTA 5, which is pretty CPU heavy. Also considering some of the hot air from the graphics card is getting into the CPU cooler). I would have just ditched the 3 white fans you see in the picture, so that makes room for a bigger cooler like a Phanteks TC14PE, but the CPU socket on this motherboard sits really low, and the radiator/heatsink won't fit. Cause even the Hyper 212 EVO which is only 120mm BARELY fits above the graphics card, it even touches the backplate a little. So I'm probably getting a 240mm AIO liquid cooler if I want to get an overclock on the CPU or need it for rendering. But back to the matter, the Hyper 212 EVO is still a pretty small cooler to use for an i7. I guess you could overclock a little with good airflow and ambient temps, but not much. I was originally gonna get an i5-4690K, but it still wasn't in stock weeks after I had ordered it, and suddenly I saw another store had the 4790K on sale which was just a tiny bit more than I would have paid for the 4690K. That and I really underestimated how restrictive the airflow is with this case. Just taking off the side and front panel dropped the CPU temps quite a bit. | ||

 I'm all about buying a hand full of smaller/older games. Metroid Fusion is one of my favs.  Buy the DLC so you can look at the maps you're never going to finish. | ||

It takes a while for heatsinks/radiators to cool down after the CPU/GPU have been under heavy load for a while, so the drop in temps wouldn't have been huge. I'm usually pretty proficient with PC stuff, but after just recently upgrading pretty much everything I really wanted to be sure. Thanks | ||
