People like the 90's because there was more progression possibilities man. Nowadays everything looks stucked. Litteraly everybody had a chance in that times. Nowadays everything is a copy of a copy of a copy. A reinvention, a recycling, a revamp or whatever you want. And old values are distorted. Now what's good was bad in that days and whats considered bad is actually what is good in a long plan. And people had more money in their pockets.

I'm born in 89 as well. Definitely agree about the part where no matter what era you're born in, everything will just seem so easily magical to to you as a kid. For the last 20 years, technology has seriously gone a long long way.
