are you reviving any errors such as: code 8015d003 or some similar code?
even if you aren't try these steps:
go to windows live on the internet
go to your live account and update all security information
set a secondary e-mail, update phone number, set security questions, and change your password

microsoft recently did a "security" check with accounts and for some accounts they blocked xbox live access until the above steps (and in some cases even more) were completed.
