I think you underestimate the loyalty of the american military to the people. I'd know, Im in the military. Also, if you really think you can fight back well against someone who pulls a knife on you while you're unarmed, you must have never been in a fight. But you are right, you wont change my opinion, and I wont change yours, best we agree to disagree and have a good day.

The military is made up of the LCD of Americans, though. Nothing but people who went in because they were either poor, desperate or psychotic. Why else would someone join the military? To "see the world"? Pfffttt. The military isn't made up of free-thinking patriotic warriors of justice and right, it's made up of dumb drones who kill what they're aimed at until their minds break and they get unleashed on civilians.

Australia recently-ish changed their gun laws and gun crime from suicide to murder went down a ton, WITHOUT an increase in non-gun crime (IE No, your little theory about people just grabbing another weapon has been proven wrong). There have been studies done that show that the mere PRESENCE of a gun raises the chance of someone dying from a gun. Guns make killing so easy that, apparently, their mere presence can cause deaths that wouldn't have happened, even if other weapons were readily available.

Also, defending something that's only purpose is to kill makes you a damn psycho. Get help.

despite you pretty much being a lost cause with a false sense of security, i think you missed his point.

hes saying that if the government wanted to fuck the civilians up the ass, they wouldnt even have to hesitate because they are trained for these things.

the only thing guns do is make civilians more scared of each other rather than make them feel safer against a boogey man. theres also a lot of money invested in the gun market, so brainwashing you into thinking that you'll be safer if you bought one has clearly gone in their favour.

You must be really, really sheltered. Or live in a super rich neighborhood. I've had my home/property broken into at two different times at two different addresses. Also been assaulted before, multiple times, all before I could own firearms because I was a minor. This is why I believe that people like you who think we dont need to be able to protect ourselves must have never had a tough time in life because you dont know what it's like to be a victim of an attack. But keep believing that "no guns allowed" sign will keep you safe buddy. Have a good day
User avatar

no ive actually grown up in a segregated, poor neighbourhood where crime rates are relatively high.

if a person wants to break into my house i can almost guarantee that they wont be armed because the risk of them getting caught by the police is higher than them getting killed by me. they have no reason to be armed, they just need to be quiet and fast. on top of all that, they dont deserve to be killed for trying to steal from my property. id imagine such people are usually poor and are merely trying to make some quick money, not trying to attack or hold people hostage in the house.

its a practically a civil cold war with you pro-gun, paranoid schizophrenics. an endless cycle of "we need to be protected from our means of protecting ourselves".

you turn into a 12 year old after i explain why guns are unnecessary for defence against burglaries

if i wanted to rely on myself to stop crime, i would have been a vigilante - which is probably what you consider yourself as with your manly weapon and sociopathic tendencies.

if youre going to argue that guns are fun to own and make your 3 inch feel bigger, the least you could do is argue for that instead of pretending like theres a need for gun when it comes to self defence against house burglars.

youre still going with the condescending 12 year old response like its supposed to win you an argument or something

nowhere did i say that authority shouldnt have weapons. my argument was that guns make burglaries more dangerous than they would have been. which is pretty stupid considering that guns are the only reason to have guns.

just because youre programmed into believing that youre a lot safer or manly for holding a device that is used to kill people, it doesnt people in other parts of the world are in any danger to begin with when the guns arent present. the whole point of the gun culture you live in is to make you buy guns by scaring you, whilst at the same time scaring others into buying guns by showing them you have a gun.

these shitty sociopathic tendencies that you seem to feel manly about are comparable to paranoid schizophrenics more than brave heroes who can protect themselves. just because i dont have a gun in my house doesnt mean im completely defenceless against armed attacks, it just means i wont end up unnecessarily killing someone.

Then the government should do more to stop illegal guns, not legal guns. From what i can remember only 1-3 % of all guns used in crime in USA were legal the rest is illegal. That is such a tiny fraction that banning guns all together might bring more harm than good, since something like 20% of all deaths by guns were in self-defense. Imagine all those people that now had no way to defend themself and could have gotten killed.
User avatar
#39 - crazyeyedbioll (11/28/2015) [-]
So it's the distance that it can be used at that decides the deadliness of the weapon? That would make sense right, bombs can be triggered at damn near any distance, good thing those are banned and never used or made. I could hide a kitchen knife, something that is not yet banned in a nanny state like UK but probably will be soon, in my shirt, walk up politely to you on the street and stab you with just as much effort as shooting you. I could pick up a brick and throw it at your head with just as much effort as aiming a firearm, then proceed to bash you with it while you are incapacitated.

But beside that arguement which I wont stick solely to, government atrocities, pol pot, nazis, stalin, communist china, north korea. All would do whatever they wanted to civilians and the civilians would be helpless against that government power, why? Because they had no means to defend themselves from it. You better believe the american government itself and any other government would have to think carefully and think twice before trying to commit things like that simply because americans arm themselves so well. Now I am not saying that WILL happen, good lord do not mistake me for a conspiracy theorist thinking the government is out to get me. But I do believe all citizens should have a right to defend themselves with things better than a rock they picked up off the ground because thats the only thing that hasnt been banned or restricted.
User avatar

Okay, i realise that I'm not going to change your mind, so I'm going to stop here, but I will say that if you seriously think that americans are safer from being placed under a dictatorship or similar sort of thing because they can own guns, then you seriously underestimate the power of the american military.

Also, I live in the UK and had to go to school in a pretty rough area of london. I was mugged a few times during the years I went there, and every time not a single weapon was pulled on me. In fact there were multiples times when people have come up to me in a threatening manner and let me tell you, its nice knowing that, even if that person is hiding a weapon, the worst they can pull out is a knife, which isnt gonna kill me before i have a chance to fight back.

That's the basis of the argument, but when you expand upon the issue, it's that outlawing guns, at least in america, where they're everywhere, is only the first step. There will be an increase in crime as people with legal guns turn theirs in and people with illegal guns ignore the new law. The argument (at least for people who aren't as shortsighted as crazyeyedboi) is that the cons outweigh the pros for outlawing guns in america.

I'll try and explain a little better then. You could ban "tactical" knives. Or Batons designed for hitting people. Then I could go get a kitchen knife, or a baseball bat, and do the exact same thing I would do with what you just banned. gonna ban kitchen knives and bats too? Okay, ban those. Then I'll go get a hammer from a tool shed and do the same thing. Ban that too? damn, humans just cant be trusted with any tools now can we, ban everything and give us plastic, non sharp kid tools. That may work. Until someone grinds them to a sharp point, new weapon. Fact is people have been killing others with weapons since the first caveman learned he can pick up a rock and smash you with it. If I sound rude in my explanation I have no intention to be, this is just how I explain things, getting that out of the way already.

I'd say there's a big difference between something that is large and only effective in very close range than something that you just need to point at someone and pull a trigger to kill with.

Your argument falls into the very common "slippery slope" fallacy. The idea that by doing A, then Z could possibly eventually happen too, therefore it's pointless to do A. It's the same logic that was (and still occasionally is) used to argue against legalizing gay marriage. "If we allow people to marry the same sex, how long before they start wanting to marry their dog, or their cat, or their car?"

Humans certainly can't be trusted with anything, but that doesn't mean we should make it easy for people to get their hands on extremely deadly weapons, ie objects whose only purpose is to inflict serious bodily harm on another person.
User avatar

Get help.

despite you pretty much being a lost cause with a false sense of security, i think you missed his point.

hes saying that if the government wanted to fuck the civilians up the ass, they wouldnt even have to hesitate because they are trained for these things.

the only thing guns do is make civilians more scared of each other rather than make them feel safer against a boogey man. theres also a lot of money invested in the gun market, so brainwashing you into thinking that you'll be safer if you bought one has clearly gone in their favour.

so let me get this straight, dude breaks into my house, and your house. same scenario for both of us. He has a knife. I have a gun because I keep guns in my house. You do not because you dont need them right? Who's going to stop the intruder, and who's gonna be a victim?

how many times has your house been broken into by someone with a knife or gun?

because ive never even encountered a single person who has had their house broken into by someone with a weapon, let alone had my own house broken into.

its like saying that i need a fully functioning nuke just in case another country decides to invade my country and the government collapses.

Have a good day

no ive actually grown up in a segregated, poor neighbourhood where crime rates are relatively high.

if a person wants to break into my house i can almost guarantee that they wont be armed because the risk of them getting caught by the police is higher than them getting killed by me. they have no reason to be armed, they just need to be quiet and fast. on top of all that, they dont deserve to be killed for trying to steal from my property. id imagine such people are usually poor and are merely trying to make some quick money, not trying to attack or hold people hostage in the house.

its a practically a civil cold war with you pro-gun, paranoid schizophrenics. an endless cycle of "we need to be protected from our means of protecting ourselves".

Brazilian Man Takes Care Of 3 Robbers Who Broke Into His Garage! You have no idea how fucking evil people can be. I'd rather be able to protect myself in the instant than have to wait minutes for the cops to arrive. Your innocence and belief that man is essentially "good" makes me think that your profile pic is the actual, current you. Stay pure, child.

Aww, victimizing criminals. That is adorable. If I want a free blowjob I know where to go, just break into your place and tell you I need to because I'm poor. Who do you call when people break your things or attack you, unless you're too busy feeling sorry for them and sucking them off, you call the police, you know, people with guns? Who are your important government officials protected by? People with guns. What are your banks where your money protected by? People with guns. But I mean, go ahead and cry some more calling me a paranoid schizo. I'm not the one that anyone can make their bitch but I guess some people are into that. I have to go to work now, but you can keep rambling on about how evil guns are if you want. It's reeeeeally gonna stop me from owning and enjoying them, no really.

you turn into a 12 year old after i explain why guns are unnecessary for defence against burglaries

if i wanted to rely on myself to stop crime, i would have been a vigilante - which is probably what you consider yourself as with your manly weapon and sociopathic tendencies.

if youre going to argue that guns are fun to own and make your 3 inch feel bigger, the least you could do is argue for that instead of pretending like theres a need for gun when it comes to self defence against house burglars.

Aww you followed my advice and kept it going, how sweet you really must love me. So how much do you cry at night knowing not everyone is a massive pussy fart that has to rely on others to come protect them? Also no, I'm not a vigilante, I work with law enforcement, I'm also in the military as I stated above. So I think I'm more qualified in this field of discussion than you are, buddy.

youre still going with the condescending 12 year old response like its supposed to win you an argument or something

nowhere did i say that authority shouldnt have weapons. my argument was that guns make burglaries more dangerous than they would have been. which is pretty stupid considering that guns are the only reason to have guns.

just because youre programmed into believing that youre a lot safer or manly for holding a device that is used to kill people, it doesnt people in other parts of the world are in any danger to begin with when the guns arent present. the whole point of the gun culture you live in is to make you buy guns by scaring you, whilst at the same time scaring others into buying guns by showing them you have a gun.

these shitty sociopathic tendencies that you seem to feel manly about are comparable to paranoid schizophrenics more than brave heroes who can protect themselves. just because i dont have a gun in my house doesnt mean im completely defenceless against armed attacks, it just means i wont end up unnecessarily killing someone.

Saying I have a twelve year old response when all you do is go in circles with your logic is just hilarious. "You dont need guns! because if there werent guns then we wouldnt need them! See? I've proved you wrong! I'll call you a sociopath and say guns users are all scared when Im the only one scared of guns here. That'll show you!" Dumbass. And since you are talking about being scared, who's scared here? Me? surely not considering I've had almost my whole life being taught how to survive, do I need a gun to stop you or kill you? Of course I dont, doesnt mean I wouldnt much rather use one. Like I said before, not all of us are huge pussy farts afraid to defend ourselves with superior tools.
