No matter your stance on the issue, that argument makes no sense. You're literally saying that an amendment to the constitution can't be altered, because the constitution can't be altered. You do know what an amendment is, right?
User avatar
#52 - somuchfreedom (10/15/2015) [-]
It is an ammendment in that it was added to the constitution after it was already drafted in order to specifically show what rights the people had so that the government couldn't "interpret" their rights away
User avatar
#75 - belikea (10/15/2015) [-]
Yes, I am aware of what the bill of rights is. It does not change the fact that the argument above doesn't seem to understand what an amendment is. Nor does it change the fact that amendments can be effectively outlawed without outlawing the constitution itself. Such was the case with prohibition. So, it's just a poor argument
User avatar
#82 - somuchfreedom (10/16/2015) [-]
I would argue that the bill of rights itself is a bit different than previous ammendments (stronger and less subject to change) but I do see where you are coming from
#17 - limberlarry (10/15/2015) [-]
Technically thats not correct, read the 2nd amendment carefully and you will see that it does not actually give you the right to bear arms, it simply prevents washington from interfering with any such right you might have
#83 - somuchfreedom (10/16/2015) [-]
#85 - limberlarry (10/16/2015) [-]
Its not actually a matter of opinion, its the law as stated. As i said earlier though it makes no difference now because the 2nd amendment has been incorporated, so no individual state can interfere either

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

#20 - anon (10/15/2015) [-]
limberlarry is correct. The language of the amendment presupposes an inherent right and then states that that right will not be infringed. It does not give the right, it recognizes that you already have it. It falls under the unalienable right to life because the right to life implies a right to self-defense, which in turn implies a right to the means necessary for self-defense. Unalienable rights are not granted by a government, they are protected by a government.
#19 - limberlarry (10/15/2015) [-]
Precisely, "shall not be infringed", not "shall be enforced". It doesnt matter now because the bill of rights got incorporated, but before that the amendment only applied to the central government and not the state governments, so it would have been completely constitutional for say the state of new york to deny citizens the right bear arms. This actually has been upheld in court way back

Omg no don't worry about it! You don't seem stupid at all! You're alright! Damn that sucks about the migrane though. Those things are a pain in the ass. I don't know a quick fix for one lasting that long. Maybe check out a doctor if it lasts even longer. That's gotta be hell.
#53 to #50 - ministermax ONLINE (03/16/2015) [-]
Man I don't know, it's kicking my ass super hard, I swear I think the things out that I want to say correctly, then I type them or say them really badly because i'm trying to act through the urge to cave my face in. I'd love to visit the doctor's, but I currently don't have any sort of medical coverage, but with time that'l fix its self too.

Goddamn. Night terrors too? That sounds like some **** , dude. But hey it is fuel for stories. So there's something. But don't worry about it. I do that a lot too. Like nothing comes out as I'm thinking in my head. Especially when I'm talking out loud. Like do I even know how to speak english? At least when I type it comes out slightly better.

User avatar #63 to #62 - tesforever (03/16/2015) [-]

Nice talking to you! I'll be around! I gotta do some stuff.
User avatar #56 to #55 - ministermax ONLINE (03/16/2015) [-]
I've pretty much gotten over the night terrors, I "react" to them and wake up to them much faster than I used to, still some freaky **** though, which is both a good and a bad thing. I honestly thing it's worth it, if not a little tiring sometimes.

And yeah, words are super hard sometimes. A huge essay can come out like "Blahhhhh...." and you won't know what to do because you stumble over your mistake, then stumble over the stumble, and if you're anything like me, you just say " **** it, i'm done trying".
User avatar #58 to #56 - tesforever (03/16/2015) [-]
Damn. That's cool that you're working through it though. It sounds like you're getting better at dealing with it. So kudos to you for turning them into something good.

And yeah they really are. OTL
I make typos all the time and I wish there was an edit button on here. Even though I can see how that would cause problems.
#59 to #58 - ministermax ONLINE (03/16/2015) [-]
It's nothing special, but thanks!

(not sure what OTL means.)

Yep, I feel the same way, typos are never fun, but I type too fast to deal with them properly.

I'm gonna hit the sack and attempt some sleep, but it was fun talking to you again, and i'm surprised and thankful that you took all of the time and effort that you did, it means a lot!

Good luck on everything dude, looking forward to the possible debate at some point!
User avatar #65 to #59 - tesforever (03/16/2015) [-]
**** I didn't see this reply until now. And OTL looks like someone kneeling with their head to the ground. It kinda means "Goddamn." or " **** .", like when something's frustrating. Like typos. t's kinda hard to explain. OTL

Typos are a pain in the ass. I type fast too and don't check. And then bam. Everything's ****** up. +5

But yeah cool talking to you too, dude! Hope that migraine goes away after you get some sleep.

Yeah things have gotten kind of crazy lately. So I haven't really been able to be on here much. I'm sorry, dude. I'm about to go on this fourteen hour drive away from home coming up hopefully sometime this week. And I have an interview in a few days. So I might be getting a job. Things are starting to really pick up. And I haven't got to be home much. But how've you been, man? It's cool to hear from you. Also sweet text color, dude. That's close to the color that I wanted. Actually that's almost the exact color, kek. Right on.

Thanks! I'm really excited for the job and the trip. I've really wanted to work there and I've been trying for it for awhile. And it looks like I might really get it this time. So my fingers are crossed. And I love traveling. It's so cool to be driving so far. I've kinda been here all my life, so it's cool to see other places for a change. And aw, thanks, but you wouldn't have to do that! I actually have one I just haven't used it yet. I'm saving it for, idk why I'm even saving it. I think I'll use it next time I upload something. Or when I'm on here more. I don't wanna use it and then be gone and just have it run out. That would kinda suck. I'll probably go to get my color and slip and get orange or something. OTL

Damn, dude, that's not fair. Like if they couldn't prove it, then you shouldn't have been fired. Like couldn't they have just checked the tapes? But yeah, man, it seems like a really chill job. I'd rather work the cash register or in the back. I actually really wanted a factory job, but if I can get this then I'm going for it. Sounds strange, probably, but I really want to be a truck driver. Kek. A lot of my family members do it. And the pay is usually really great. And I love driving. So it sounds perfect. And it wouldn't take like a million years in college for it. I could just get training at a technical school, which is what I wanted anyway.

Eh, it's all good. If i'm going to get fired on suspicion of something I didn't do, then I wouldn't want to spend my time in company of people who don't trust me anyways.

And it's really awesome to see someone who knows what they want to do in life with the goal right in front of them! It's something i'm still struggling with my self, but i'm sure i'll find it eventually.

I hope everything works out for you.

True, true. That's a good way to look at it. Unfortunately I've heard of similar stories where companies just pull ******** like that so they can fire you, for whatever reason. It's not fair at all. But at least hopefully that'll lead to you finding better people to work for. Because if they're gonna be like that then **** 'em, you don't need 'em anyway.

And yeah I never really knew what I wanted to be. Ever since I was little it was kinda dreams to be an artist or a musician or writer. Which I haven't given up on. I'm just going to kinda freelance that. Like if it takes me anywhere then cool. But the only other thing I ever thought about being was a truck driver because of my dad. And ever since I didn't really know what I wanted to be. But then I realized that's not something crazy at all to shoot for. So I just started going with it. I'm working on getting my CDLs now. I'm too young to get certified to drive all over the US. I can only get certified for driving in the state I live in. But still I think if I can show I have that, then that might get my foot in the door for actually landing a job once I can get the other certifications in a few years. But yeah thanks, man. Things are kinda falling together good lately. So I'm happy.

Lose weight (gaining progress on that though)
Driver's License
Getting a Job
College
Move into personal household
Establish a career
Find a "partner"
Write a book

And so on, and so on. I don't really understand how some people remain so calm and collected.
User avatar #37 to #34 - tesforever (03/16/2015) [-]
Don't sweat that one! You'll definitely find someone. You're super nice! Just focus on making friends first! And you're definitely going to make those through work and through college. And maybe even join some clubs or take some classes, like public classes, on the side. And you'll find people through those things too. Just don't worry about this one, and don't drive yourself crazy over it. Because it seems to happen when you least expect it. I started dating one of my best friends a while ago. She and I were super close for probably over a year, maybe two years. And then it just happened. So just work on making friends and taking care of yourself. And someone will come along. You've definitely got time!
That's something I want to do too! And I have no idea what I want to write about. I only have a bunch of ideas. I haven't even written a short story in a long time. But that's a place to start, especially if you're not lazy like me, kek. Just make short stories and find out what you might wanna write. Unless of course you already know what you wanna write. And just keep at it. Maybe even designate a few hours each day to writing it. Because it definitely can be done. You just have to stick with it and not stop.

Woo! There! An hour of writing later I am done! Sorry for taking so long. OTL I can't believe everything erased earlier. I was almost done writing too.
#40 to #37 - ministermax ONLINE (03/16/2015) [-]
Once again, thanks for responding, it means a lot!

It's quite crazy to see how much we see eye to eye on these things, and how closely I agree with pretty much all of this, I just wish I wasn't so stubborn. Saying that, I can call my self lazy and stubborn, but I won't do **** about it, odd how that works.

I'll take your word on everything though, since it seems like you've got everything all figured out! I've sorta lived by "cross the bridge" as you come to it, and it's worked so far, so I don't see why it wouldn't now.

There's just a **** ton of rocky road in between my self and the bridge, know what I mean?

Once again, thanks.
User avatar #48 to #40 - tesforever (03/16/2015) [-]
Yeah it is crazy. But it's cool! This beats arguing with someone over everything! Kek. Although I like to argue. So technically I can't really lose. Heh. And trust me I'm lazy as hell. I'm only just starting to do something about it. Slowly. Finding ways to do things lazier, but still efficiently is the way I go. Kek.

Haha, I definitely don't think I've got it all figured out. It's just wishful thinking over here. But that's nice of you to say so! :3 I just hope for the best. And when it's the worst I try to deal, and keep hoping for the best. So far it's kinda working.

And yep. I think I know what you mean. It's gonna be a rocky ride getting through. But at least it ain't no mountain!

#36 to #34 - tesforever (03/16/2015) [-]
I just wrote so much, and I clicked wrong and it all got erased. And Ctrl+Z isn't doing **** . I'm gonna break my computer. But anyway, kek. As I was saying. It's great that you're trying! That's a huge step towards getting what you want. And it's surprising how many people don't try and then wonder why they don't have anything. Like that's what it takes. To give a **** enough about everything to try and make it for yourself.

Yep that can be a tough and tedious one. But it's certainly not impossible! The greatest thing you can remember though is that you can't give up with it, if you want it to happen. Even if you mess up your diet, or miss a gym day, don't let that ruin everything. Just pick up where you were and start again the next day and keep going! It's what everyone says, but there's some truth to it: Eat less, and exercise more. You don't have to give up on things you like eating, just cut back on them. And cut out carbs when you can, especially grains, and load up on the protein and fat. More fat than protein though. Obviously don't eat like 20,000 calories a day, unless you're going for some extreme bodybuilding or something. Kek. But that's what really worked for me. Each person is different of course. But give it a try if you want!
It's really not as hard as people like to say! So don't let 'em freak you out about it! Just study hard and get your written test out of the way, if you haven't already. And get someone to teach you how to drive drive, so you can get some practice before your actual driving test. Parallel parking is nowhere near as difficult as people say. It's just like tieing your shoes. It's difficult at first, but it's easy once you know how and do it a few times. And remember to fasten your seat belt before you start your car on the day of your test! Some places supposedly will end the test immediately, if you don't do that. So keep that in mind!
Same thing I'm working on, of course. But it can be done. And you've already had one too. So look, there's some experience, and that's definitely important! Just keep looking and trying. And maybe even make friends with the workers at a place you're considering. And they might even put in a good word for you. That's what I've been doing with people at the grocery store and the other gas station. Plus it's always great to make new friends anyway!
Now that one is a tough one. My friend is going through college right now, and she says it's crazy sometimes, but for the most part it's really not that bad. I'd imagine it's just like highschool: Like the next year is always intimidating, but once you do it, you get the hang of it, and it's not that bad. You're still trying to decide what you want to study, aren't you? Got any ideas, if you don't mind me asking? And she's getting her regular classes out of the way, so maybe you could do the same, and demo what you might want to do, before actually diving into it.
That's something I gotta work on too. Just focus on the job first as step one. And start saving up for it and take it from there. Don't let everything overwhelm you. Just take it day by day and do what you can. Hell, if you're thinking about college and once you decide what you wanna do, maybe get a dorm. And save up until you're out of college. And get an apartment or take out a loan and go for paying off a house if you'd rather have that.
That one is way down the line though! So don't get too worried over that. You've got time! And you've gotta work on these other things first. But you'll find what you wanna do, if you keep searching for it. And it'll all fall into place eventually. I've gotta work on my career as well. But we've both got time to figure out that one. So don't sweat it.

Damn I ran outta room but I'm not done yet. OTL

Also, my 2nd spoiler on #39 applies to both my career and relationship stuff, in case you were confused.

Goddamnit. It's doing that thing again where it's not letting me reply. So I'll just reply here.

DotA - LoL I haven't played enough of either to even have an opinion. So WoW by default.
Butts > Boobs And legs. Definitely legs.
Dogs < Cats I love dogs though. German Shepherds are the fave, next to Rottweilers. And Husky/Malamute/Wolf mixes and Shiba Inus. But I have a soft spot for cats. And cats are easier to care for and I am very lazy OTL.
Anime < Everything So you wanna fight, huh? Aha no I do like anime. I just haven't seen much. But get ur waifu out of here. Everything is totally better than animu. Kek.
RPGs > Other genres Damn I gotta agree here too. Only thing better could be open worlds, but usually most of those are RPGs.
User avatar #61 to #60 - ministermax ONLINE (03/16/2015) [-]
It's just reply limits because of the ******* purple bars.

Not the same genre!
I don't have any opinion on legs! happy with mine though.
We actually agree on the favorite breed too, German shepherds are the sweetest things.
My Waifu is a wonderful lady, don't talk **** about her
User avatar #64 to #61 - tesforever (03/16/2015) [-]
Damn. It sucks when it does that.

It's really similar though!
Long legs are great. Kek.
Oh man, Sheps are the best! That was the first dog we ever had when I was a kid. I love them so much. And I love how they're police dogs. Like yeah, you can search my car, if I get to pet that Shep. I love dogs with those black and brown markings. Maybe that's why Rotties are the second.
Ur waifu is trash. Jk. kek.

Wow, that's a lot of writing, i'm surprised and really thankful, by the way that you took the time to write all of that.

Responding to #4 (I don't know how i'd respond to the first 3, but I understand and agree!): I hear equal amounts of horror and satisfaction from College, it doesn't worry me in the slightest, the only thing that bothers me about it is financial standing. There's a handful of things I want to study for, actually, it just depends on what I end up getting driven to do. Either IT (HTML Code specifically), or some sort of psychology, since i'd also like to be a therapist, I really love working through people's problems, even though I can't work through my own to save my life. When I was in a highschool out in Japan, I finished 2 1/2 years worth of Java courses in 1 year and got an award for it, so maybe coding is my thing. I'm not sure yet, though, it's all since lost to me. Writing is another thing I enjoy, which I believe is something we share in enjoyment.

The last one is the one I care about the most, i'm usually better with someone else guiding me because i'm a big dumb oaf otherwise.

Once again, thanks for responding, it means a lot!

Kek. It's no problem!
And right on. That's really cool that you'd want to go into coding or psychology. I've considered both, especially webpage design, just because I've tried to learn it in my free time. But I'm not sure if that's what I'd really want. And I considered psychology as well. Hell I've considered a lot. But it just bugs me because I'm interested in so much, but I'm not sure if I'm interested enough to make college worth it. But yeah I can see why you'd be concerned. I know finance is a big deal for everyone when it comes to it. And honestly it's the same here. Beyond not knowing what I'd want to do that involves college, I'm not sure if I'd want to pay that much for it. Maybe if I wanted to be a doctor or something. So I just. Idk man. I guess it's a matter of how much you take a liking to a career and how far you plan on investing in it. Just give it more thought though. I'm sure you'll figure out something.

I'm sure you'd do well in college, you seem intelligent enough to me, and it's mostly following basic instructions anyway! Follow your dreams!
User avatar #66 to #47 - tesforever (03/16/2015) [-]
Damn there's another one. Why didn't I get notifications for these? But aw, thanks so much for that! Haha, I don't know. I think I'd actually like college. It's just I have no idea what I'd study for. There isn't really college for truck drivin' is there? Technical schools excluded. Which is certainly what I am shooting for right now.

I don't care no matter how mundane the reasons are, so long as I am loved.
