amuzen (12/22/2015) [-] you mean about what the various factions and peoples did some 200-300 years ago to the natives. Now the natives problems are mostly their own doing with their primary problems being rampant alcoholism and a lack of good workers/modern values since they're all just used to being handed all the money they need to get drunk and live every month. That and a lot of their tribes are suffering from a few degrees of incest since they mostly live on reserves which are essentially just small towns with super strict regulations on who can live there. When your problem is that someone else tried to solve all your problems there's nothing anyone can do to help you but yourself. That's the state the 'natives' are in for most of the northern US and CA. The whole 'natives' versus 'white man' and reserves things wasn't supposed to be going on this long, they were 'supposed' to have integrated into the rest of America by now and just be american people, and a lot of them have, the ones that are left on the reserves are just sort of festering in little pocket communities trying to hold on to glimpses of a culture that died 300 years ago. They're like the Amish except they don't really seem to know WHY they're doing what they're doing. I recently read a native american qoute saying something along the lines of 'white men abandon the graves of their fathers and they do not care' It was meant to go on to say that's why white men will destroy the world and why they're guilty of some shit and why they'll never understand us but really when I think about it, Yeah, we do abandon the graves of our fathers, we abandon the graves of our fathers to build homes for our children and frankly they should do the same. The past is a lesson to be learned from, not something to be preserved eternally, there's no good reason they're not willing to move forward from the shit hole's they're rotting in. Their ancestors, the ones that moved forward up to the point they're sitting at now would most assuredly agree.

terribletim (12/22/2015) [-] I don't know if I have any discernible ability as a writer, what I know I have is the ability to think deeply and profoundly, since I've taken several bitter states in my life and poured them into my thinking, though there is not much money to be made of this single trait. I'm currently a middle aged, senior engineering student, anything else is just a hobby. I named the piece "an Ode to joshlol" since it's only fair I name it after the event's that caused me to write it down, hope you like it bud.

terribletim (12/22/2015) [-] I've thought about something similar to this, what if you through some method unbeknownst to you, you became immortal, you live your life normally until after a certain point you realize you've outlived the normal human being by a discernible amount of time, you watch as everyone around you withers and dies like a beautiful flower, only to realize that you are bitterly alone no friends, no family, no one, you find someone to love even though you know you will outlive them, you do so anyways just to feel again, you raise a family you watch them all grow up, and eventually the time comes, you watch as the generations pass of your family until they become intertwined with the rest of humanity to the point that you don't recognize them as family any more, you repeat this cycle, until you've had enough, you curse this existence, you sum up the courage to end yourself, only to find out that no matter what you do, you just re-materialize back into yourself, you cry in agony as you try to find a purpose, wander aimlessly, explore the galaxy, meet new creatures and races, after many millennia, your back again where you started, decide to explore the last unknown in the known galaxy, a black hole, wonder which would win, your ability to materialize or the black holes ability to dematerialize, you travel into the great abyss, only to realize that you have set off a chain reaction wiping out everything in known existence, everything except your conscience, in time in this great void you figure out how to create entire universes in the blink of an eye, after a while you decide to try to recreate earth just like when you thought you where mortal, you attempt to create creatures with their own inherent will, only to realize after several failed attempts, that you cannot recreate the civilization you once called home, you give up and live vicariously through their happiness and sorrows of these creatures, suddenly after many generations have passed, you see someone, who is nothing special, yet every fiber of the creatures being reminds you of yourself, as that creature is listening to a familiar piece of music, you relapse into a vivid moment of nostalgia, suddenly you realize, that you are being absorbed into this one being, unbeknownst to itself, only to realize, in all your wisdom that it's been in one unfathomably large cycle, you smile as you fade into nothingness. -Terribletim "an ode to joshlol" Hahahah.... hahahah.... and it's right there, but not yet...
