I think it's a hilarious irony that a country founded by people running from religious persecution, that lead the game on crafting laws into it's government to protect it's citizens from religions using government to enforce religious mandates, and now 200 years later the USA posts religious icons in our courtrooms, assert that our money is backed by God, in writing, on every bill (a practice started in the 1950s) Have a major political party gaining in strength that are christian fundamentalists, put people without even an elementary school understanding of biology on our congressional science committee, don't allow atheists to hold office in 7 states, don't sell booze on sundays, say a mandatory prayer before government meetings in a number of states, and we've had federal level cases for trying to add creationism into public government funded schools under the guise of intelligent design as recently as 2005 (luckily it got struck down).

Democracy makes hypocrites of us all.

Oh, they're everywhere, all over this country, but they are far more common south of the Mason/Dixon line. There's a reason so many southern states vote Republican, and it has very little to do with that party's actual politics. That's why you see republican primaries get so completely ridiculous.

With the quote from Francis about atheists being able to get to heaven by being nice and not needing the religion, this should technically become law of Christianity because the pope is chosen because of god's grace so the pope's words are technically God's so the bible should have been amended like the constitution

I understand, but by doing this you lessen the amount of thumbs you will get in the end. It will also cause some atheists to think you are just blindly attacking religion and being a bit of a twat, causing them to thumb you down as well, as it gives them a bad name as well. At least that is how it may be perceived.

Agreed, I should have presented it a bit differently. The idea popped into my head so randomly so I rushed it out into the public sphere for scrutiny without taking the proper amount of time to ensure it conveyed my overall message without taking away from the insightful nature of the original observation.
