True.
I mean, in the North they're rather fierce sounding, but are nice as hell and will offer you a cuppa anyway (and none o' that Tetley crap- proper Yorkshire tea).
In the middle and Northwest, they sound nice but are ignorant fucks.

lol it's ok but yea your example would make complete sense, if someone asked you to get "one dozen" eggs and you only get even 11 then you have not done what you were asked, you are 100% right, however if someone asked you to get "Eggs" and you come back with 2 or more than you HAVE done what they asked. And that was my point about the picture the only task we can safely assume in the picture was to bring said object from left to right, and anything else is simply an assumption. Thus what the guy did in the picture would make "intelligent sense".

Using your egg example a bit more lets say you are asked to get a dozen eggs, you can just throw all eggs right in to a bag a bring it somewhere, and get the task done, but it might be better to use a carton for the eggs.

I know what he was trying to say, however I do admit your example did confuse me, but going back to lainge's example he was saying that the picture made no "Intelligent Sense" and my point was that it did make sense. Using your example of 47% there is clearly more than 47% of the object left in the picture, and to my example is that losing only a small portion of an object is still the object, and the task in the picture is to move said object from left to right.
#103 - tendercrud (10/19/2013) [-]
I'm just going to go with all the information in the text and say there is only 53% of the object left. I'd agree with you all the way, but because there is near enough half of the object, that is a considerable amount to lose. If someone asked me to pick up a dozen eggs and i brought half a dozen, i wouldn't have done what they asked. I appologise for my examples, i know they're shitty but I can't stop making them. It's like a disease, it just takes a hold of me

I never used an example of cutting a dollar in a circle, and it's not being picky, it's called being logical, you name calling "Prude". And there is a reason i used the term in my example a "Small corner" because in no way would a small corner be as you say 47% of a dollar.

Yes, if you cut something where no piece is bigger than 47% then it would not be the same object anymore, but the picture clearly shows more than a reasonable about of the object left for it to be considered the same object, just not the same shape.
#91 - tendercrud (10/19/2013) [-]
I wasn't saying anyone in their right mind would cut a dollar, because if they did it would no longer be a dollar. I used a dollar because you'd already mentioned it. Do you agree with this " If the only job is to move an object, leaving 47% of it behind would not be doing the job. If for some reason it was, then why not leave a higher percentage behind" that's all I was trying to get at and I think Lainge was trying to say that too

That's a poor example really, Why would anyone chop a dollar in to a circle to make it easier to carry? Now I can see someone folding a dollar to make it easier to carry, but there is no sense in cutting a dollar in to a circle to make it easier to carry.

However if anything you proved my point even more if you wouldn't take a small part of a dollar as a whole dollar then it proves it's no longer a dollar.

I was only working with the example you used, stop being a picky little prude. If the only job is to move an object, leaving 47% of it behind would not be doing the job. If for some reason it was, then why not leave a higher percentage behind
