when welding you wear a helmet, not glasses.
the helmet blocks dangerous levels of light radiation, sometimes the levels are high enuf to give you a flash burn on your skin as well.
No glasses? You mean when you take of your helmet to beat slag of a weld you want slag in you eye?
When welding you are in a shop enviroment. Sparks go everywhere. Grinders are grinders, bandsaws are..bandsawing. You best have your glasses on nigga
what do you mean by take the helmet off?
keep that shit on, the lense is clear when not welding so might as well just use it that way.
also i have never needed safety glasses in the shop unless i was under something, i avoid problems by standing to the side of a project to avoid being in line with particles.
depends on the welding done
The lense is clear? I mean, if by clear you mean shade 5, and by keep that shit on you mean look through at max a 5x5 slit, then yeah i think you'd be fine
But I prefer having more than a pinhole vision in shop, especially when you're trying to square a trailer and a mistake costs you 10 mins
nah, a digital helmet can do both electric and gas welding etc, they have many shade settings and honestly you should use one in place of glasses since slag on your hair/face is never fun.
plus they untint till you supply a light source to darken them.
You get beautifully tanned by welding radiation though (and possibly cancer).
you also get nasty skin burns, went to weld with my shirt off and my chest was burning for a week.
to be fair i only have a few places that burn that easily though, most of me has a heat tolerance that can handle a max of 250F for a minute.
