Wow for real!? FJ user are gay as fuck most of the time but wow the comments I am seeing are just flat out stupid. You people really can't take a joke nor detect sarcasm in a post.
On a more serious note pot really shouldn't be illegal but whatever not going to debate with 12 year olds. Stoners are the new gays though and it it really blows my mind that its more acceptable to be a pronounced homo male that talks about swallowing seamen everyday then to be some guy thats like "yeah I smoke pot on the weekends".
Just think about it.

I smoke pot and I'm a System Engineer. I do so because I have anger issues that can't be fixed, and they have to be controlled with pills, but pot keeps me calm as well and it doesn't have any chemicals so I decided to stick with it, for now at least.
#73 - bobbysnobby (02/13/2014) [-]
Pot is a cancer risk, is highly addictive, and impairs memory construction. Anyone who disagrees is miss informed there are lots and lots of studies that show it. I have a friend who is going to Harvard Medical School and got a 35 on his Mcat and he smokes a lot. Does it make him stupid? No. Does it impair him? Yes.
#491 - thenewneone (02/13/2014) [-]
Highly addictive, lol.
#611 - bobbysnobby (02/13/2014) [-]
THC is an extremely addictive drug, more addictive than Nicotine. One is a physical dependence one is emotional and pharmacological dependence.

Anthony, J.; Warner, L.A.; and Kessler, R.C. Comparative epidemiology of dependence on tobacco, alcohol, controlled substances, and inhalants: Basic findings from the National Comorbidity Survey. Exp Clin Psychopharmacol 2:244–268, 1994.

#619 - penguinthegreat (02/13/2014) [-]
do you realize that emotional addiction means that its all in the addicts head?
if they stop nothing happens to their body
i smoked pot for 2 years, didn't smoke since new year and i don't feel a thing
User avatar #664 - beardman (02/13/2014) [-]
Yea but neither Meth nor Cocaine are not physically addictive like nicotine and heroin. They're just psychologically addictive, same as THC. Doesn't mean that the withdrawal can't be just as bad. I know this not from some "health teacher" telling me but because I'm an EX-heroin and speed addict and learned this through many outpatients and rehabs. Both are very hard to kick (SAME as THC), and while something may be psychologically addicting it doesn't mean it's any less hard to get off of. But yea maybe nothing happened to you when you stopped smoking but I know people who couldn't eat and were always anxious and pissed off when they tried to quit smoking weed; the same way that I know people who quit heroin after a year and had very minor withdrawal while other people i knew quit after 6 months and went through absolute hell. It's dependent on the person, just because it wasn't seemingly addictive to you doesn't mean that's the same for everyone...
User avatar #659 - fukkendragonite (02/13/2014) [-]
Mate, I'm sorta with you, but saying emotional addiction is 'all in the head' is like saying that schizophrenia is all in the head and that it isn't an illness because if you're having a bad schizo episode it doesn't physically affect your body.
#632 - bobbysnobby (02/13/2014) [-]
What your talking about has nothing to do with science and I dont know what to make of it. Saying that Emotional and Pharmacological dependence is "All in the addicts head" is absolute nonsense. Pharmacological dependence means that your body stops producing chemicals in the brain or body thats not "In the addicts head" its measurable. Physical dependence doesnt mean that its visible or is "physical" it means that withdraw has extreme physical effects such as Heroin which can kill you if you go cold turkey. If your going to bring up contradictions without citation and with nothing but anecdotal evidence I will say you are the Ken Ham of this debate.

The same site that seems to love Bill Nye's debate and the science that he uses, should also trust that science even if it disagrees with what they believe. There are literally hundreds more papers and at least 30 of them are peer reviewed and passed with flying colors.
#490 - Womens Study Major (02/13/2014) [-]
So you believe every thing you read?
How many of these are government run?
How many of these are true wide and accurate population samples?
Lol most of them are old studies and the one made in 2010 is a "association" hahaha there is a "association" of everything.
So much for science where is the logic and deductive truth?
Haha how weak information dumb really what are you 12?

Doesn't matter what you say it in regards to health effects of it positive or negative. Smoke is not health for the lungs from what ever the source. The fact is you are supposed to be a free human and be able to chose what you want to do. It could be poison but you should have the right to do it.

I mean what are you a nazi?
User avatar #515 - pubeasaurusrex (02/13/2014) [-]
So let me get this straight, because people actually cited good information showing that pot is actually bad for you, you're not going to turn edgy and say it's the government who's lying to us? 3edgy5me
#532 - Womens Study Major (02/13/2014) [-]
Yep,
Hasty generalization is all the fjers seems to be going on...
No where, no where in any of those "studies" did it say that "pot is bad for you". None of those studies that where put there deductively conclude that "pot is bad for you".
Please look them over.
No study as ever proven that its "bad for you".
But whatever I am the faggot for using logic...
#622 - bobbysnobby (02/13/2014) [-]
Actually there was a recent study in Australasia which concluded that smoking a Blunt 1 once a week was as large a cancer risk modifier as smoking a pack of cigarettes a week.

CANNABIS USE AND RISK OF LUNG CANCER: A CASE-CONTROL STUDY
Eur Respir J. 2008 February; 31(2): 280--286

"The highest tertile of cannabis use was associated with an increased risk of lung cancer (relative risk 5.7 (95% CI 1.5-21.6)), after adjustment for confounding variables including cigarette smoking. In conclusion, the results of the present study indicate that long-term cannabis use increases the risk of lung cancer in young adults."
User avatar #725 - landerp (02/13/2014) [-]
That's because blunt wraps are made of tobacco. I use a vaporizer and still manage to run 6 miles a day despite all the lung damage that I supposedly have. Try quoting some reliable information that is backed by facts rather than listing off books written about the subject.
#731 - bobbysnobby (02/14/2014) [-]
It was controlled for. Vaporizers dont burn the plant material so yes the damage to your lungs is drastically reduced. That is a fact that is also true of tobacco however and is not at all unique to Cannabis. All of the reports i have linked are peer reviewed and are much more reliable than anecdotal evidence about individuals athleticism. I have asthma and have been very active in my life. Those two things can coexist despite asthma dramatically hurting my ability to be athletic it doesn't prove that asthma has no affect on my body. If you use a vaporizer that dramatically reduces the damage your lungs will take. True. It doesnt address the various chemicals your are inhaling one of which being THC and the effects it has on the brain, and on our biological chemical production.

You can go through and down thumb all of my posts because they contradict what you want but it doesnt make me wrong. Can you smoke or use Cannibas? Sure. Do I mind? No. Is it safe? No.

The facts are the fallowing. Burning any plant material and inhaling it is dangerous, that goes for dried grass, all the way to opium no exceptions come to mind. It has to do with the process of burning being an incomplete process of combustion where by you break Carbon Carbon bonds in the plant to produce heat. This process is imperfect and thus you are left with residue that you breath in, particles which are not good to breath in as our lungs are extremely sensitive to disturbance. THC is addictive, it changes the chemistry in the brain because it produces dopamine which suffers from diminishing returns. Over time this results on the body not responding to natural dopamine production.

Finally I can post facts but when you post facts back them up. I have given citations for reports done and peer reviewed about the potential risks of Cannibas. My citations are peer reviewed by the scientific community, your post is an accretion faceless on the internet. One argument is compelling, one is rhetoric
#734 - Womens Study Major (02/14/2014) [-]
Lol you just don't get that its only coloration.
Answer anons post, please.
"Words like "safe" need to be better defined. Just because something has "ill health effects" doesn't mean that its not "safe" ever read the side effects of prosecution drugs? I don't see anyone getting on peoples case about taking pills and not knowing all the side effects...
Well what is "healthy" and natural?
Is tea natural? Is coffee natural? Is caffeine natural? Is eating large amounts of sugar natural? Is artificial sugar natural? Is high fructose corn syrup natural? Are they healthy?
What are you going on?
I mean why not inform people on those things."
Also I don't think any stoner thinks that smoke is healthy for you so we can agree on that.
On addictive is something bad because its addictive i.e coffee?
Would you agree that moderation is key?
#714 - Womens Study Major (02/13/2014) [-]
Lake of deductive truth still...
A free man needs not to be told what he can and can't put into his body.
If your whole point is to affirm that "smoke" is bad for the lungs then I agree.

#720 - bobbysnobby (02/13/2014) [-]
Smoke all you want I dont have a say, and i dont want to have a say in what you do. However the number of people who try to affirm that Cannabis is "safe" and has no ill health effects are just lying and its easy to show. I dont think that the state should have the right to outlaw it and I even think that it should be taxed, but that doesnt mean its healthy or even neutral its actively bad for you.

My goal is to inform you all do what you want with the information but the claim that Cannabis is safe is just a lie.
#728 - Womens Study Major (02/14/2014) [-]
Never said I smoke. Words like "safe" need to be better defined. Just because something has "ill health effects" doesn't mean that its not "safe" ever read the side effects of prosecution drugs? I don't see anyone getting on peoples case about taking pills and not knowing all the side effects...

Also still no where does it say "pot is bad for you".
I think we can agree arsenic is "bad for you".
Being in the sun unprotected gives a higher risk of cancer.
Tanning booths can give a higher risk of cancer.
Using some types artificial sugars can lead to higher risk of cancer.
Depending on the source coffee is great for your body or the worst thing ever.
#718 - Womens Study Major (02/13/2014) [-]
Alcohol can damage EVERY organ in the body and can cause liver failure, mouth throat cancer, and other major problems! Yet you almost never hear anyone complain about it online or in the news unless its drunk driving.
Tobacco should be a schedule one narcotic in the US and in the world!
-No medical use
-High potential for abuse
-Addicting
I mean really what are you getting at?
#719 - Womens Study Major (02/13/2014) [-]
Whats your point?
You should impose your will over everyone in the world just because YOU don't like something?
I mean really what are you a nazi?
So there are some correlations between pot use and advert health effects non of which are deductive.
Well thank you for informing the people.
Yet my point still stands.
