Middle class straight white girls, like yours truly, do in fact have comparatively little to complain about. I think a lot of people (especially on FJ) see this, and as a result consider feminism as nothing but bitchy girls with tumblr, or mythical straw-feminists.
But we're a long ways away from an equal society when it comes to things like ethnicity, sexuality, class, etc. Even if they aren't specifically feminist issues they often overlap, and I'd personally like to hope that fighting for one kind of equality encourages people to fight for others.
#183 - tedge (10/30/2013) [-]
how aren't we equal? im not saying everything is the same for everyone, but i'd say each different group has advantages and disadvantages and in the end they just about equalize.

Maybe not in MEDC's, but in other nations such as asia and africa, female oppression is extreme even today with problems such as fgm and infanticide.
#182 - tedge (10/30/2013) [-]
Africa has other problems it needs to work out before it worries about equality.

Because much as we might not like it, there's always going to be a politics around the labels we use, as much for each other as for ourselves. Early femininsts used the term, and I think it would be difficult to stop using it without distancing ourselves from a) the history of the movement or b) seeming as if we were ashamed of it in some way, when there's no need to be.
Feminism might not be perfect but abandoning it because some people misuse or slight the term is not the answer.
I have heard alternative terms, such as womanist, but that one involves dealing with racist elements in society as well.
#150 - tedge (10/30/2013) [-]
i don't think there is any need for feminism in today's world. Shit's about as equal as it's gonna get.

Because equalists tried to take away the beauty of bending... to be honest I don't know, but you can't really blame them, it was started by women, it's going to have mistakes here and there........... For the feminazis reading this, it's a joke not a dick, don't take it so hard.

its just like the episode of deadliest warrior, Ninja Vs. Spartan. the ninja would have killed the spartan because he would have snuck up on his bitch ass. but thats not what the show is about. it's about a straight on head to head fight.

I see the mistake I made saying its a given for every planet, herped a big derp there. But thats irrelevant to Nirn. In Mundus (The Elder Scroll's solar system) Magnus (the sun) revolves around Nirn from East to West. Nirn obviously rotates around it's pole, otherwise wind would be non-existent (Coriolis Effect). Seeing as Nirn's poles just so happen to be points on the planet that are farthest from the sun, it wouldn't be crazy to consider that the closer to the poles you move, the colder it gets. Neat thing about the axis, with Magnus, Nirn doesnt seem to have one short of 0 degrees, as, even up north, the length of days dont fluctuate throughout the year.

The poles are farther away from the sun, meaning the closer you get to either, the colder it gets. Thats a given for EVERY planet. Look at Mars, its not earth, but it still has poles.

but some planets poles face different directions. not all planets sit on an axis of 23.5 degrees.

Because it's a normal principle, the further north you go up until the pole, the colder it'll get. It's because of the distortion of the sun's rays, making less sun have to heat up more land, wich makes it colder.
