I'm fairly sure though, there's people strong enough in their beliefs to shoot a National Guard member who would stand in their way, and if that happened there's a chance, low as it may be, that what was a standoff would devolve into nation-wide shooting matches.

Yes, watch it. It obviously is different to LOTR in a lot of ways, and different to the book because they (understandably) try to cater to wider audiences but it's still worth it. It's great to be back in the Shire again, and I also like the way they try and tie the story of Sauron into it more so than in the book, where he is largely irrelevant.

Also the actors are brilliant as always, Martin Freeman is a perfect Bilbo, the dwarves are quality, obviously the old guard (Ian Mckellen, Hugo Weaving etc) are brilliant as always.

except for the lore and recycled music, it's nothing like lord of the rings
they even made enemies CGI instead of guys in costume, battles look like a 12-year old's fantasising
also, the shire theme now sounds like it belongs in the sims

here's me hoping they get their Mountain back and Smaug gets killed by the prince of Dale in the second movie, and leaving a whole third movie for the battly of the 5 armies

It is so worth it. Jackson did well keeping with the book but also mentioning stuff from his other books and it's still acting like a prequel and talking about The Witch King and Saroun's (I think I spelled his name wrong) return. I loved it so much I actually bought it.

It's worth it. It's an excellent movie. Just don't watch it to expect Lord Of The Rings, but The Hobbit.
