| There are plenty of occasions at which 2 people will blink at the same time. Human blinking occurs at around 0.2 hertz (once per every 5 seconds) that's about 17280 times per day. If a videogame character has omnipotent awareness of when 2 people will blink at the same time, then he would have no problem with blinking at these intervals, assuming all he had to worry about is blinking because the gamers are doing everything else for him. #47

pineapplepeople (12/18/2012) [-] Blinking becomes less frequent when playing games. And each blink lasts for only 1/100 of a second. This means that if you play a game for 5 hours, your eyes are closed for less than 36 seconds total. Less than half of this time is spent actually playing the game. Finally, unless the two people are perfectly in synch, the overlap of the duration of their blinks would be very small. So unless the character blinks very infrequently and extremely quickly, he never blinks. The only alternative I can find is he blinks between frames. #254

pineapplepeople (12/19/2012) [-] Even in a case where they average one blink per second, they'd be blinking about 1% of the total time playing. The odds of their blinking overlapping is less than 1/ 50. This means the soldier would blink only once every 50 seconds. This is longer than most staring contests. This also assumes he can blink extremely quickly, as the overlap is most likely very small. The easiest solution is he blinks between frames. Assuming 50 fps (which is pretty damn fast) this wouldn't even be very difficult, as the space between frames is twice as long as the average blink. | ||
