Take a look at the works of a man tortured by his own discovery. Human kindness is essentially a tool in us used to benefit the human race. We are not doing it to be kind, to make ourselves feel better. We are doing to because it betters the species, no matter how insignificant the act.

I am aware we are a biological computer, but that is more complex than any possible computer. We have chemical reactions and electrical stimulus that simply can not be recreated. We have wants and needs, and computers simply don't. We have synapses that send impulses that are complex and unique even from individual to individual. There is not a possibility of a true, learning and free thinking computer.
Don't try using cleverbot as an example, because cleverbot is not free thinking either, or leaning, it uses algorithms to determine what a human may say in that situation, picks from a database of saved phrases, and can't carry on a conversation.
You are quite the conspiracist though.
User avatar #68 - talkingmouth (04/25/2014) [-]
I dont care about Cleverbot. Cleverbot is nothing. And no, our synapses do not send impulses that are individual to us, those are just electrical signals. We can manipulate those extensively. Every 2 years, our computer technology proficiency doubles. We will be creating people in computers sooner than we are prepared for.

Actually..
I am pretty damn positive no machine can literally duplicate an actual human brain.
We are living breathing organisms with 70,000 unique, unprogrammed, spontaneous thoughts each and everyday.
And we more untapped potential than a machine.
Machines will never be comparable to the ever advancing human brain, sure we aren't calculators, but we invented the calculator, and we tell it what to do, because that is how it is programmed.
I believe in 150 more years, humans will be how we depict alien societies, with all focuses on progress, we will be less compassionate and more ambitious with less religious focuses and rid ourselves of anything considered "inferior". An intentional and forced natural selection, which would, by their logic, increase productivity and progress.
User avatar #63 - lifesavers (04/25/2014) [-]
Sorry, but as far as science is concerned, the human brain is extremely similar to a CPU. Then again, we don't know everything about the brain. But the big thing is, we will more than likely make machines more intellectually powerful than humans. If you look, Ray Kurzweil and lots of other notable scientists wrote a ton on the subject, and not a single one says it's impossible or even improbable.
User avatar #65 - welfarekid (04/25/2014) [-]
It's not 100% improbably, but really think, the brain is a biological, carbon based. Machines only have an artificial intelligence based on algorithms created by humans, therefore I don't see them ever having true intelligence.

If you truly think the human brain in a machine is not right around the corner, you're terribly wrong. We are nothing but biological computers. Feelings emotions are chemical reactions.

It may also be worth noting that Alchemists believed that Mercury (or quicksilver) could be concentrated into an even more pure form by heating it using fires that burned hot enough to create salamanders. This substance was called prima materia and was the main ingredient of a Philosophers Stone. According to Alchemical myth and 'The Encyclopedia of Things That Never Were' anyway.

Wow, it seems everybody here knows all there is to know about the element Mercury. I didn't know our amazingly advanced technology has unlocked all the functions of such a strange element.

Open your minds people. The things you call crazy might be crazy, but that doesn't make it any less real.
500 years ago, the Earth was flat, this was common knowledge.
200 years ago, electricity was a terrifying, highly skeptical subject, and many people did not believe it would ever become what it is today.
50 years ago, the human brain was the most complex machine in existence, and was it was never dreamed of to outmatch it.
10 years from now, the human brain will be duplicated in a computer.

Stop being so closed minded.

Whether you believe him or not, there are a strangely high number of attempts to silence him through various ways, such as strange copyright claims that banned his first videos from Youtube. His book on Amazon had 5 stars and hundreds of reviews at one point (I myself am witness) and then it was suddenly 2 stars and there were like, 3 reviews.
