The willingness to kill someone doesn't make you smart. Though it does take some balls to kill someone who didn't personally wrong you (or psychosis).

Long range marksman (aka 'snipers') have to make snap calculations of wind speed and direction, including cross winds that may or may not correlate to the wind speed and direction at the target location (or yours for that matter). Oh, and add gravity to the whole thing. 'Good' marksman can do this in about a minute. Someone with 150ish kills has probably only had a few seconds to figure it out at times.

Being able to hash all that shit out in seconds DOES indicate a decent level of intelligence.

Sniper missions are kind of brutal. I went with our platoon sniper a few times to provide security. It's a whole lot of waiting in 120 degree heat without moving or losing focus. What OP was trying to get across is that this dude is actually kind of a badass.
