You wouldn't buy Diablo for the singleplayer experience anyways, that's not how the game was designed

Sim City on the other hand was designed to be a singleplayer experience but requires an online connection to be able to play, a concept called DRM which is supposed to screw over pirates but only screws over players.

sim city was designed for cities to interact with each other. One cities decision affects an entire regions, this was stated by ea the moment it was announced at E3. And I know plenty of people that bought diablo 3 for just the single player; a single player that forced people to stay connected to online.

Regions can alternatively be set to private for playing singleplayer. Now the main difference between Steam and Origin would be that in order to play a game on Steam, you do not have to be connected to the Internet all the time, however with Origin you do, and EA, as evident, is not maintaining their servers properly, when Sim City came out it was practically many critics found it unreviewable because of it's server problems. Whether a game like Diablo or Sim City was designed for singleplayer is multiplayer is arguable because our personal experiences differ (in my experience, I haven't met a single person who bought Diablo 3 and did not play it with a group of friends or through online servers), however it is evident in how EA treats it's customers that they don't really give a shit. I understand a lot of it is just the internet's need to inflate every error and issue to massive proportions, but from what I've personally seen, my opinion would be that they completely mistreat their customers through DRM. Origin is not as good as Steam, it crashes for no reason, and constantly tethering someone to Origin just so they can play a game is unfair. They either need to repair Origin so it's at least on the same level as Steam, or allow their games to be played without a constant internet connection through Origin.

(by the way, I'm not a Valve fanboy. I think they screwed up on L4D2, I don't find Portal very fun or TF2 for that matter, and I thought HL2 was kind of bland, but their customer service is almost always on the spot.)

Atleast Blizzard does all server fairly well. They spend fair weeks testing their servers so that there's less than a few hours of downtime. Diablo 3 wasn't much more really. Most people got to play it well within maybe 5-6 hours.

Valve barely releases anything although they actually LISTEN to their community. Same with devs like FromSoftware and DigitalExtremes. People hate EA because they've started a lot of detrimental trends to the gaming industry. It's also not about incomplete games story wise but about day-one/pre-order dlc, and overpriced dlc packs. Not only that but ruining key game franchises with this shit is pretty annoying as well.

I also dislike Ubisoft and Blizzard, but at least their games are still playable.

Yes, completely, because their past success and their still relevant titles released on multiple platforms including PC don't have any effect on the industry as a whole, nor any influence on other companies. Consider all angles before you post something degrading others.

They didn't create any of those trends though.
