I know it was the normal thing, which is why the old version doesn't stand out to me in any way whatsoever. I would never give the song a second listen if that was the only version out there.

I'm gonna say the cover is better in your case, just because the way Jules sings, the instrumentation, and the tempo all fit and help shape the tone of the lyrics much better than in the original. The pop-ish sound and faster tempo don't work as well imo.

User avatar #127888 - syrenthra (08/30/2014) [-]
My take on it
Original:
Between the speed and the more-upbeat tone this one sounds like it is describing a Mad World that is crazy and insane and just stuck on repeat of the same thing but expecting it to change fucking Vaas man

Cover:
It is a more sombering song where and makes it seem like the singer has gone through crazy shit that has lead up to the current point in their life where they are observing everyone else going through life without noticing the world.
User avatar #127887 - ultrablue (08/30/2014) [-]

Kids should be limited to using softairs or waterguns - Seriously, what the hell do you guys think? You can drink with 21, go to concerts with 21, etc - but you can shoot a fucking gun with 12? or 9?

Seriously, how can anyone support this shit? It´s purely insane without a question
User avatar #173 - syrenthra (08/28/2014) [-]
Let me explain the difference between some of those.
First off, you don't need to be 21 to go to a concert, not sure where you heard that at. Its usually 18 but can go younger with adult supervision.
Drinking is 21 with or without adult supervision because someone can't control you nearly at all when it comes to drinking.
Shooting is allowed pretty much at any age (most sane adults wait til 8+ at least) because it is supervised, instructions are to be taken seriously and with any slightly break of the rules people are usually punished or seriously talked down on with their gun being taken away until it is seen as they are allowed to use it again.

Like has been said, the issue here isn't the age, the issue here is the fucking gun. Give an uzi to a 16 year old girl who has barely shot and she wouldn't handle the recoil either.
User avatar #154 - LazierThanThou (08/28/2014) [-]
From what I can tell, there is no legal age restriction on when a person can go to a concert in the US. I can be wrong on that, but it differs from venue to venue, which I think means that it's something that isn't a law. Furthermore, alcohol can and will screw with a developing mind. Even up to age 21, you can still do serious damage to your brain by drinking too much. Is the age restriction too harsh? Probably. But it's not that big of a deal that children can't get drunk. They can legally consume alcohol with the consent of their parents well before the age that they can buy alcohol.

This was an unfortunate accident caused by incredibly bad judgement. Stop grand standing on the corpse of a fellow human being to try to brow beat people into going along with your totalitarian, leftist ridiculousness. It's shameful.
User avatar #155 - ljxjlos (08/28/2014) [-]
"incredible bad judgement"

Yeah, obviously - it´s incredible bad judgement to give children lethal weapons.
As well as giving every-fucking-body the possibility to own a gun.

Everyone else understands this, only the US are to dense what this is concerned.
User avatar #156 - LazierThanThou (08/28/2014) [-]
Everybody else doesn't trust adults to make adult decisions.

Freedom is scary and freedom is volatile. It's not for the faint of heart or cowards.
User avatar #160 - ljxjlos (08/28/2014) [-]
Everybody else realizes that being an adult doesn´t make you intelligent.
Everybody else realizes that adults can go crazy.
Everybody else realizes that adults are often even more idiotic than children.
Everybody else realizes that, other than children, adults can be evil.

That has nothing to do with Freedom - there is no such thing as freedom in a world filled with as many people as we have on earth. If you want to be free, go life in the jungle or dessert, all alone - when people meet, there are rules and when there are rules there is no freedom.

Giving everybody guns is NOT freedom. It´s idiocy. Pure and utter idiocy.

As was your last sentence.

Who´s the faint of heart? Who´s the coward? Those who dare go out of their house unarmed? Or those who need to have a weapon next to their bed to even sleep?

You people are so incredible dense, it´s unbelievable. Seriously, I can´t take any argument with gun-nuts serious because they simply seem to refuse to think as soon as it´s about guns.
User avatar #210 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
Also instead of pulling any logic or reasoning, or even fact you just whine about how dumb we are when presenting with facts that prove guns in America make it safer to live.
User avatar #209 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
Also just a question, which do you think kills more people, rifles or handguns?
User avatar #212 - ljxjlos (08/28/2014) [-]
Weapons.

I´m not talking against assault rifles. I´m talking about every kind of shooting weapon that can´t be used for anything but - shooting. It´s okay to own one or two if you´re a hunter, trained several years and are working to keep the enviromental and natural balance up - or a policemen, defending the publicity yet another interesting point - look up how many bullets german policemen have fired in the whole year of 2013 - and then think about why those numbers happened. if not you don´t need a weapon.
User avatar #214 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
Also one of your previous statments

"And telling me that a system in which a girl of 9 years is allowed to handle a deadly weapon while a grown-up of 20 years isn´t allowed to drink or go to a concert is in any way reasonable - well, in that case you´re simply wrong. It´s completely retarted."

Is wrong if you look at facts and statistics
User avatar #216 - ljxjlos (08/28/2014) [-]
Fact: Giving 9 year olds a gun is pure and utter idiocy.

point.
#219 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
Also giving an untrained 9 year old a fully automatic SMG is a bad idea, and they should not have done that.
User avatar #222 - ljxjlos (08/28/2014) [-]
Please, enlighten me - why should a nine year old feel the need to be able to handle ANY weapon at all? 9 year olds should play gameboy and hit each other with sticks, not handle deadly arsenal.
User avatar #223 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
What part of "Also giving an untrained 9 year old a fully automatic SMG is a bad idea, and they should not have done that." Does not make sense to you? I was agreeing with your statement that giving an untrained 9 year old a automatic firearm is a bad idea.
Also you "Need" a firearm as much as you "Need" Free speech, or a Car, or a Home, in fact it would just be easy to tie us all up and feed us protein milkshakes through our noses, that is all we need!
User avatar #224 - ljxjlos (08/28/2014) [-]
I just wanted to put a point that you stressed "untrained" and "automatic"- no matter if trained or not and no matter if the weapon is automatic or not - it´s not a good idea.

And no, that´s idiotic.
Free Speech brings tolerance, brings ideas, brings progress.
A Car brings you home, brings you far away, brings you everywhere.
A home gives you warmth, safety, a place to go to.

A gun? Hm, yeah - a gun brings you bullets. That´s it. It doesn´t even bring you safety if everybody has one.
User avatar #228 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
Double Correction

Free Speech brings hatred, ignorance, and general intolerace.
A Car brings you death, getaways from crime, and helps in crime (more than a gun in some cases).
A home gives you danger, a place for dangerous creatures to hide, and crimials.
A gun gives you protection, security, and knowledge that no one will be able to infringe those previous rights.
User avatar #226 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]

#213 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
Showing that facts have no effect on your argument i have stopped pulling them up, but it seems you just don't want people to own guns because they don't need them, this is a very poor and dumb argument, and it really depends on what you mean by "Need"

There are many more cases of self-defense with firearms than there are normal homicides, if you don't want the majority of people to die from crimes, than you NEED private ownership of firearms, but if you don't mind small crime rates jumping a lot with self defense cases going down, then you don't need guns.
User avatar #215 - ljxjlos (08/28/2014) [-]
See, I don´t even READ your facts - because they are all non-withstanding vs. the bigger fact that guns are a potencial risk factor with no reasonable benefit because the only benefit they give is protection against people with smaller guns - which isn´t needed if those people don´t have guns. That´s my whole point. If you don´t need something, it doesn´t have any benefits and it puts others in danger it´s idiotic to have it.

Just look at every other country - if there are less weapons there´s less crime. That´s simple fucking logic. Of cause the crime would first skyrocket - until the criminals who did NOT give away there arms have been discovered and disarmed. Because it´s way easier for the police to identiy a criminal if only the few radical criminals are armed. It´ll take money and casualities, but on the long run it´s the only way to go and to become a more civilized place.

Btw, that´s it from my side - I don´t want to spend my time with people who seem to stop thinking as soon as this problem is talked about, no matter how intelligent they might be normally.
User avatar #220 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
Andrew Klavan: Shut Up.

This represents your argument in a 4 minute video, i kept it short as i know you haev a very short attention-span.

"See, I don´t even READ your facts"

SEE I DIDNT EVEN READ YOUR STATMENT BUT I AM RIGHT BECAUSE I AM
- ljxjlos

Really man? I just retorted your statement about that, but because YOU are the thick one who refuses to listen to any facts, logic and reasoning, you are , in a sense, a 3 year old who is saying "If i cant see you, you're not there!" Exept replace "You" with facts, and we got you.

Also you are calling me dumb and idiotic when you refuse to look, or read any of my facts? Do you even know what arguing is??

Also almost all of firearms used in crimes are illegal, and if found by the police, would have been confiscated.
User avatar #221 - ljxjlos (08/28/2014) [-]
Okay, I might have sounded like an idiot with this - but it´s true, nontheless.

See, I´ve had this discussion dozens of times. And i´ve readen all those fucking facts at least half a dozen of times.

It didn´t even take me reading them a second time to realize that they end up with "guns are less dangerous than you think"

BUT: They are NOT harmless. They are dangerous weapons. That´s one fact that overcomes all others in this discussion. It´s like saying (I´m overplaying now) : Hitler built the Autobahn and there was work for everyone. He was less dangerous than you think.

People need to think on long run and on lung run, over a path of casualities and money, there will be less gun crime if there are less guns. Illegal gunholders will be found because they can´t hide between millions of legal gunholders, black markets will fall and so will illegal weapon trading paths.

But because it will take money noone wants to go this path.

Really, it is that fucking simple: Less guns = less crime. Believe what you want, this is how it is and this is how it works nearly everywhere.
User avatar #225 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law

Less guns = less gun crime

This is true,
however, more people will die though small crimes, such as robbery, muggins, ECT, but it depends on if you want to appeal to the majority, or the minority,
and this always is a hard choice, but i decide the majority of people deserve to protect themselves over the minority that get killed because of accidents, or possibly criminal actions.
User avatar #227 - ljxjlos (08/28/2014) [-]
Obviously Godwins Law has a point? Why shouldn´t it? Hitler Jokes are fun.

Then, I wonder, why it works in Germany for example? Believe it or not, we have up to no guns and still there are not many deaths in small crimes. Weird, huh?
User avatar #236 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
*Reply limit at your last comment*

I took the reply bait, and i don't expect you to reply to this comment.

"I could have looked for sources, stats, etc, etc - but why? I don´t care enough"
If you refused to look up facts and statistics, that means you either do not really care about the problem, or you know you are just wrong.

"and there´s always a counterstat saying the exact opposite"
If you did find a counterstat, most of the are VERY biased, and will refused, like you, and logic or reason, and give very misleading fact without cites, while i gave you the raw data, with cites, and translated it for you.

"Always. I´m german, I won´t change anything in the US, so why should I care enough to take hours looking up stuff."
IT took me about 10 total minutes to get all the info i gathered, most of it was just typing, there is this magical tool called "Google"
Find it here: www.google.com

"It´s simply logic thinking that I did and that was more than enough. Every normal person understands it. The only legit point you had was the cultural diversity. That´s about it. "
And that more guns (in America) leads to reduced crime, homicides, and general small crimes, or youknow, the whole argument? But the fact that you refused to even read it, means that you don't understand it.

"And this is easily the worst clichée about us germans. That´s what our people degenerated to. We were a country of poets and artists one, free-thinkers. Now we´re degraded to wörkwörkwörk - and that´s just sad. So please, do me a favor and don´t remind me of it, okay?"
This is the first valid point you have made this entire argument, and i have nothing to retort this, having been an American, and never been to german, and have thus not had enough experience to state anything (With full confidence that its true) about German culture.

#233 - lilnuggetbob (08/28/2014) [-]
Germany is 6% black.

America is 14% black.

If we deported all Blacks, our gun crime would reduce over 80%, and overall crime by around 70%

Of course this is terrible, intolerant, and impractical, and hard to put into work, just like your idea to ban all firearms for civilians.

You used very flawed lodgic, and presented it as truth
You refuse to realize 2 things might be different
You refused to look at any of my facts, logic, or reasoning, just to attempt to make a point.

If little to no work makes you tired, i feel very sad, i all ways though of the Germans ans hard working, and logical people, luckily you proved me wrong, so how about you look at this page, and thing before you speak, as you obviously do not.
