Well that idea would require there to be a "center" or origin point in the universe, something of reference. But everywhere is the center of the universe. if you would think "well the universe is expanding so we just see where it is expanding from and we will find the center" thats when you run into another problem. Because the universe is expanding from every point in space. everything is getting further away from everything else.

You need to know, speed as we describe it is completely related to how fast it is travelling towards or away from something.

That is exactly what I mean, it is technically possible to reach a true no velocity in relation to everything, but it theoretically is impossible because of that fact that you couldn't calculate the center of the universe and find how fast our galaxy/system is going

And in a week they'll realize they misinterpreted their data, but it will already be too late and all the sensationalist "WARP DRIVE INVENTED, FULLY FUNCTIONAL, AND ALREADY IN USE DISCOVERED" headlines will be redacted with a tiny little editors note off in the darkest corner and smallest text of the site/magazine saying "FTL was not invented, we're idiots and made it headline news to sell papers even though it was completely unverified".

they double checked possible errors, mostly air distoritions due to heat. warping effect is 40x stronger than calulated air light distortion/refraction.

It's nothing new, ion propulsion has long been said to make near-light speeds possible... If you let it accelerate for a decade.

This is the same, extremely low thrust. The difference is that it uses no fuel, just electricity. So it is much better mass-wise, but near-light speeds will still take forever to attain.

No fuel is cool, but all the crazy claims surrounding this are just media sensationalism.

No the thing is they were testing for the EM drive and might have stumbled onto warp drive technology

Its too much to defend from too fast, You can't build a base and defend fast enuff. You either survive moneyless, or die with a lil money. Either way, dead ;-;
