 So its not only the religion, its the people as well. I mean, they are fine with following outdated beliefs written to turn an entire area onto the teachings of a pedophile, and refuse to move past it. You're being too vague. If you're one of those "oh Christians shouldn't eat pork or shellfish" types you're talking out of your ass. I'm actually pointing out that christians realized quite long ago that many of the Bible's sayings are not fit for a comfortable modern life.  I believe you're referring to the old testament, which is for the jews, not the gentiles/christians of today. With the coming of Jesus the old testament no longer applies, as the only people that still follow the old testament are the jewish people who believed in it originally. So it's not that it was too barbaric, it's that it is in all forms outdated.  There are many Christians who disagree about the Old Testament being defunct. Jesus says to hold true to what is written in the Old Testament. Most of western society now cherry-picks Christianity, or uses it as a set of guidelines, as opposed to literal truth. Many western Muslims do the same. They call themselves Muslims but subscribe to many western values. If we could get all or most Muslims to treat the Quran / Haddith the same way modern western Christians treat the bible, that would be a monumental step in the right direction. | ||
