If bad enough, burns can cause permanent nerve damage, which causes extreme pain even when treated with pain medication and another to deaden the nerve endings to lessen it. I know because I've gone through it, and have that damage. It limits me a lot. Mine aren't even bad, and Hanako's seem much worse. Then those social dificulties make it even harder for her.
