Don't get me wrong, it isn't good. But acting is surpisingly good, and some jokes are pretty decent. CGI isn't very good, but all in all visually its pretty good, director isn't bad at all.
Unfortunately script is shit. Characters are badly written so actresses had very little to work with. Story is cliche after cliche, about half the jokes are just idiotic and some parts just insult your intelligence.
So is it a disaster? No, its a very mediocre summer movie. about, 5 out of 10.
But as a sequel of Ghostbusters, it fails badly.
The director's a massive douchebag though.
Unfortunately being a douche and being a good director isn't mutually exclusive.
Look at Polanski.
It's got a 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I've got a feeling the reviews have been seeded.
It's got a 5.3/10 on IMDb.
It's got a 60% on Metacritic.
I can't speak for it personally because I don't intend to watch it. I've heard bad things about the behind the scenes activities.
from my friends and family that have seen it, the ones around my age from like 16-25 have all said it wasnt as trash as it could have been but still not an objectively good movie and certainly not as good as the original, from the older relatives that saw it a lot liked it but probably because it had a lot of humor that a 40 something year old women might find funny.i still dont want to go see it out of respect for the original
- but are you though?

I vehemently agree with you. I have friends. I have coworkers. But not many ever cross over. At work I don't care. I don't care about gender. Race. Political standards. Anything like that. All I care about is working and getting my pay. It's best if we can all be friendly of course. But we don't have to ever speak outside of it. I'm a leave your shit at home kind of person. I don't tell anyone I work with about funerals or birthdays or anything like that. Because they don't need to know. If I'm depressed. I leave emotional baggage at home and I expect others to do the same. I believe I've become an adult and I work with adults. And thus they should act like adults.
