Sorry the way I remember it when the vcr finished it would stop, then rewind and on the newer models they would shut off after a while. On the older models it would just rewind then stop playing. But when the vcr shut off there would not be thee color bars, it would just be snow or white noise, or whatever you want to call it. That's how I remember it anyway.
