In America, we call that a doctor's office.
#76 - nustix (02/23/2014) [-]
That's not as bad as a Dutch prison, you get a tv and playstation 2. I don't know about the computer but a criminal came to our school once telling what his life had been like and he told us he had a tv and playstation 2.
User avatar #79 - Dember (02/23/2014) [-]
Kind of looks like a college dorm room here in the USA...
User avatar #82 - nustix (02/23/2014) [-]
That's pretty retarded consedering you have way more room than we do. But if you look at the houses people own in richer neighbourhoods there is no way we have space for that over here.

User avatar #60 - jukuku (02/23/2014) [-]
I really don't see anything wrong with this. American prisons fail to rehabilitate, Norway has a much higher success rate. They do have the capability to indefinitely detain people who remain a danger.
#66 - anonymous (02/23/2014) [-]
People are living in the streets that can choose a life of crime and live a life of semi-luxury in prison. Thats why I see a problem with it.
#77 - imnotafraidanymore (02/23/2014) [-]
In Norway, poor people without jobs receive enough welfare to have a life better than this.
User avatar #45 - salmonofdoubt (02/23/2014) [-]
Well in Norweigh the goal is to reform the criminals, whereas prisons in most other countries just try to detain them.
User avatar #61 - jukuku (02/23/2014) [-]
The goal is to make them suffer, which doesn't work.
#74 - anonymous (02/23/2014) [-]
You have literally no idea how sanctioning works.
User avatar #84 - jukuku (02/23/2014) [-]
What the fuck does sanctioning have to do with prison? Prison is an inescapable situation where as sanctions can be lifted with compliance. They're not even remotely similar.
#70 - firesky (02/23/2014) [-]
The goal is, to resocialize them.

Treating prisoners like trash doesn't help there
User avatar #73 - jukuku (02/23/2014) [-]
That's what I'm saying, in most prisons, they're made to cause stress, pain and that borders on torture.
#75 - firesky (02/23/2014) [-]
Sry, I misunderstood you
#58 - anonymous (02/23/2014) [-]
Or to produce more of em.
#53 - snoppslickarn (02/23/2014) [-]
try to reform him, remeber that he will be free in 21 years wether you want it or not
#64 - anonymous (02/23/2014) [-]
they can detain him for a lifetime... he's sentenced for 21 years, but they can keep adding 5 years after sentence which means they probably will
#62 - kroger (02/23/2014) [-]
you know he won't right? He has to go through a commitee every time he would have been released and judged be them if he is able to live in the society with the rest of us. This nigga aint never gettin out
User avatar #22 - ilovehue (02/23/2014) [-]
This may seem luxurious but really it's not. It's just cleaner than prisons we see in movies. The tv is rudimentary imo.
#67 - dragmar (02/23/2014) [-]
The local prison closest to were I live here in northern sweden has cells like these, but with a notable exception. Inmates over here get game consoles. The inmates can literally visit each other and duke it out in tekken tag 2.

King goes with anything.

We'll just see what happens when a country which attributes a greater part of their success to a commodity which may very well be out of date in the next 20 years stops reeling in the money. I actually curious, I think that the Nordic countries (I'm assuming you) have the right idea investing more in education and their government rather than Dubai which is focused on being a tourist destination. I don't know it will all be affordable once oil goes out of style though, we shall see.
#104 - anonymous (01/08/2014) [-]
Norway has the Pension Fund for when the oil runs out.
And we might luck out with Thorium.
#106 - bann (01/08/2014) [-]
Which will be good short term, but with everything that could dry up with the oil, it can only last so long.
#75 - bann (01/08/2014) [-]
I meant to say you're a part of one of them, I didn't mean to imply you are all Nordic countries
