I'm gunna say something which sounds... Pretty gay. But here goes.

You've got a human brain. Those things are the most intelligent organs in the known universe. They've learned to adapt and survive in any situation since the beginning of their existence. I'm saying this because you said you don't think you could cope with Career stress once out of college, but the brain learns to adapt and maintain stress. Always.

I know what I'm saying probably sounds like Facebook Philosophical bullshit, but It's not an opinion. It's a fact.

Enough about that. It just dawned on me you said you've been suicidal free for a whopping 8 months. Swell!

With the suicidal thoughts gone, your degree just an arm's length away from you and the fact that you're a towering giant at 6'4 (so many men envy and hate you for that), everything's going up hill by the looks of your comments.

Also by the looks of things mechanical engineering sounds like what you want but i'll say it anyway:

If you feel miserable in whatever career you're doing just now, drop it. Just fucking drop it and go for something you enjoy, I can't say that's as easy as it is over here in Britain cause you guys have to pay a shit ton of money for degrees and stuff but hey, I'd rather sit on a mountain of debt and be pretty happy about my job than be debt free and drop dead fucking miserable. It's never too late.

You're 24, that means if you started a new thing just now you'd have atleast another 40 years of work you can dedicate towards it. (assuming you aren't hit by a bus or some shit.)

>pretty gay

Well lucky for you I happen to be a bisexual and have a boyfriend. I appreciate the personal philosophy. It will help me think about things for the rest of the week. I've also always wanted to visit the UK, maybe as a deployment with the RAF. I means a lot to have some stranger be nice to me and give kind heart warming advice, believe me that I will be remembering a few of your words from now on mate.

Thanks again

I could be completely wrong in saying this, buy I'm going to go ahead and assume you aren't currently progressing towards achieving a Life goal. This is what had me pretty depressed throughout most of 2014.

I've said this before on FunnyJunk, if you're literally just "existing". Then life is gunna immensely fucking suck. You need something to stimulate your mind, keep you functioning normally. What better way to achieve that than to strive towards a goal.

I always found that having a goal to aim for kept me happy and motivated, currently my goals are to build a workshop in my backyard and start building motor bikes (and to a lesser extent computers). Slowly progressing through these goals feels so satisfying.

But enough about past times. The biggest aim for you should be LIFE goals that I touched on earlier, these are goals that you'll spend years working on which will eventually pay off for the rest of your life.

It can be anything ranging from becoming a kickass musician, or being the most inspired and creative Architect the modern era has seen to date.

There HAS to be something that you'd love to do for a career, there's always something.

For example, mines is game development. I'm studying to become a programmer and create my own indie games and at some point become involved in AAA titles.

So what are your interests? Something that you can perfect and use to get a job that you love.

For the last 6 years of my life I have dreamed of becoming an officer in the Air Force, when ROTC didnt work out after the first semester in college, I join the Air Force Reserves and took a year off of college (I currently have 3 enlisted years under my belt). When I returned to college in Fall 2014, I was under a lot more stress than I normally was. Majoring in Mechanical Engineering for me is an extremely difficult task. The reason for my suicide dilemma in Sept 2014 was because of the thought in my head that said:

"If you cant handle college stress, how can you hope to an officer in the Air Force? Compared to the military, college should be a cake walk. You're not best fit to become an officer, you should just kill yourself now."

Despite self referring myself to a psychologist for almost an entire year, the Air Force Physical Evaluation Board wants to kick me out because they have deemed me unfit for duty. I have a hearing on 1/27/16 which will decide my fate in the military.

Bottom line, I have a goal in mind and have been through almost 6 years of pure stress with a break on the weekends. Im about to get my degree in May 2016 and I have already become more happy than I was before, but I will always have an occasional relapse of depression or sadness. The good news is that I've been suicidal free for 8 months now

You're a 6'4?
BRUVV, you should know that you've got the perfect height a person can get via genetics.
Don't off yourself, start being a /fit/izen.
For real, though. I'm a 6'4 faggot myself. If I ever feel down, stressed, disappointed or anything like that, working out & training helps cope with that as it relieves stress and builds a few things:
It will build your self confidence, not because of your muscles, but because you will see the changes in your body and you will realise that if you set off to do something, you can accomplish it.
It will be a productive way to spend time which will appeal to your brain. Everyone likes doing something productive. It just leaves a feeling of worth.
You'll also get some sicsk gains, bruvvv.

If you ever feel down, send me a PM. ( : )

I had a bullet in the chamber of my m16 in the army, ready for me. I realized that nothing taking my life, and that it's the way of the weak.
Basically, what I've come to believe and understand years after that is that without unhapiness there's no happiness, as Lao Tzu tells in his Tao Te Ching book. One brings the other into existance, you couldn't know beauty without ugliness.
It's more interesting and fun to endure than to give up.
