Hey fallout broski. How's life treating you?
#16 to #15 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
like nuclear fallout treats Pittsburgh, pretty damn well.
and what of you fellow fallouter

Replying to comment #36 down here so we don't hit the cap that soon again. Yeah, the midwest where the brotherhood of steel keeps hinting at having factions and supermutant problems. That or somewhere foreign, but that would take some doing.

i heart that a cancelled fallout title was supposed to take place near arroyo then moving north to canada and alaska and even into russia and china. that would be crazy cool. but black isle studios went under before it was finished. but i would love to see some chicago action, the wild wasteland trait could be heavily exploited here with ferris bueler's day off, the blues brothers, etc. plus it would bring back that classic fo3 atmosphere. and it would rocket the bos back to the number 1 badasses in the wasteland. plus more enclave would be fun
User avatar #39 to #38 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
hell yeah it would. I was sad when the BoS were so beaten down in NV.... Chicago version would be cool. Would love to see what they do with landmarks in that one. Hoover was the only serious landmark in all of new vegas
User avatar #40 to #39 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
yeah really, as was established, vegas itself was a disappointment, but the thinking man masonry in chicago would surely be a giggly moment for me. and yeah the bos should have been one of the factions trying to take the dam, in which case i would have helped them

Things are well. Moving up the comment ranks. Summer is swell here. Only chore left for a while is to rake some pine needles. Then time for games.
User avatar #18 to #17 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
here in good ol delaware its hot as balls. even my cats are sweaty.
User avatar #19 to #18 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
Nevada here, nice and toasty for my local weather but it can always be worse. Mountaintop weather is always cooler in some ways, but proximity to the sun results in weird temp changes.
User avatar #20 to #19 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
so.... you've actually been to the mojave?
#21 to #20 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
yeah. That was my biggest issue with FONV, it didn't look like the apocalypse, it looked like home :P

Okay, well /close/ to home. i've been to vegas a lot, reno even more, but i live at Lake Tahoe.
<--- so a bit more like jacobstown.

But yeah, the mojave already looks like that, lots of little decrepit huts and abandoned farmhouses. wilted joshua trees and cacti everywhere... but to be fair the NV storyline never has the area getting hit with nukes, just near misses.
User avatar #22 to #21 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
yeah it didn't have the atmosphere that 3 had. its fun to go to dc and remember :D. and Pittsburgh doesn't look any different. i think that theres a nuke crater.... somewhere. i don't remember where. but the mojave irl looks like the fallout one? albeit scaled down but still
User avatar #23 to #22 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
nuke crater to northeast portion of map yeah.

But yup. The mojave is cracked and dry, tumbleweeds everywhere, unserviced roads leading off of the main highways to crumbling structures... the only thing that looks better in real life is Vegas itself!
User avatar #24 to #23 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
what about helios one, is that there?
User avatar #25 to #24 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
hahaha, well there's at least 3 solar collection fields, and one of them has a core tower, but nowhere near that height.
User avatar #26 to #25 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
so it IS there
#27 to #26 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
<--- this here is called Solar Two
User avatar #28 to #27 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
but its in the same place?
what about fortification hill?
#29 to #28 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
no way that's in the same place, because real life vegas is sprawled over miles, that's whats most unrealistic about the game, scale, like ya said.

And although the terrain around the dam is modeled after real life, the fort is made entirely of scrap in the game and has no real-world equivalent. But there is a hill there! xD
User avatar #30 to #29 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
well they do sort of explain the smallness of new vegas. as the game is retro futuristic so vegas would be smaller. just like dc is smaller in fo3
User avatar #31 to #30 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
Well we see very little of DC honestly, it sprawls off of the east side of the map beyond the visible line of sight doesnt it? While the entirety of vegas is included in maybe 100 buildings despite no bombs falling.
User avatar #32 to #31 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
well yeah but remember fallout is supposed to be how people in the 40's though the world would look like in 2077 so it makes sense that everything would be smaller. and even though dc does sprawl east and south of the map, the actual are of dc is humongously bigger than what they portray in game
User avatar #33 to #32 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
fair enough, but still, vegas is hyper-unrealistic to me. Not even enough housing to run a single casino, even considering a number of buildings being destroyed.
User avatar #36 to #33 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
like in the Midwest? like the Chicago area where tactics took place? that would be cool. or or or or, post apocalyptic Wilmington. that would be cool. i could find my house! but seriously i think it'll be in California or Illinois
User avatar #34 to #33 - supermegasherman (07/24/2012) [-]
hah yeah you are right. i though vegas was too small. it should've had multiple strips. and more casinos, and more families. also more raiders
User avatar #35 to #34 - waffies ONLINE (07/24/2012) [-]
the game altogether was lacking a lot of what FO3 had. Less of an apocalyptic feel, no random events aside from faction ambushes, map was downsized incredibly by comparison.... i dunno. i'd love another sequel that integrates the two
