You're very special and you studied your bible classes well. Your parents should be congratulated in their ability to put what is assumed to be morally righteous ideas in your head.

But this is the real world. Let's think about real things that happened. When Florida was almost a cesspool of crime and murder, they lessened gun control and made hidden weapons permits unnecessary. Car jackers were getting brains blown out, store keepers had bigger guns than robbers, crime fell. Florida is now more dangerous because of those laws, which need to be revamped for the times, as they always should be.

Most crimes are committed with stolen guns, not registered guns to responsible citizens. Making responsible citizens jump through more hoops to get their weapons does not dent how many weapons are stolen.

Stun guns send people to the hospital half the time, but the fear of a gun could stop a situation. People are afraid of guns, not tazers. Pepper spray doesn't immobilize or stop someone perfectly, and you have to be within a certain range for it to be effective. Get shot while they're far enough away that you could spray lysol just as effectively.

Gun control that's already in place, waiting period, no full auto, no defined war weapons, are strong enough, after this point, you're trying to rid the world of all weapons in some sort of ideal society where weapons cause assault instead of people.

If no one has a gun, someone will have a bat, or a knife. Thieves will still steal, people will still kill and assault, more laws will just be making it harder for the individual to protect himself.
