I disagree again. The populous is based on entertainment factors in life. Take out the entertainment and replace it with positive things like learning, and the kid will be more prepared for a career or scientific studies to improve upon the populous. Would you rather be entertained consistently and be like everyone else who's brain is mush? Or, take a different path away from mindless violence and fear and strengthen yourself through other activities. There is no strength in entertainment, only manipulation.

Falls into moral values after showing the kids the "real world." Their decisions become irrational based on what they see on tv and what has been indoctrinated to them. Desensitizing is part of corruption as well as indoctrination. What's acceptable to you was not acceptable 60 years ago. Where do we draw the line for our children?
User avatar #68 - subaqueousreach (07/15/2014) [-]
Okay so like I said every child is different, and as such every child needs to be handled differently in how and when they receive information, but that does not mean they shouldn't receive that information in the first place.

Regardless of the walls we put up to protect them, the real world won't stop being out there, and our children are going to discover it one way or another eventually. It's better that they encounter these situations prepared rather than going in without any idea of what they should be doing.

As a Christian I can't afford the luxury of believing that animals have emotions or even self-awareness. They are sinless, which means that if they were self-aware, then they experience pain and suffering and death, all for nothing. I don't believe God would cause truly innocent creatures to go through that unless they were unable to perceive it. Thus, I believe animals are non-sentient organisms that operate similarly to super-advanced robots, which are able to mimic emotion and pain in order to protect their own existence, but unable to actually feel any of it.

Point is, some parents might not want their kids exposed to violence or something that makes them uncomfortable or scared. If you want to have all that in the privacy of your own home fine. Out in public is another thing though.
User avatar #42 - subaqueousreach (07/15/2014) [-]
Except that hiding kids from what they're afraid of only strengthens that fear. It doesn't teach them how to deal with their issues or how to be independent.

Putting yourself in a bubble isn't healthy or productive, and you're only hurting yourself or your kids in the end.

Obviously I'm not saying all kids should watch 18A movies, my situation was different because as a child I was able to understand what my father was explaining to me, and all kids are different. But we shouldn't hide them from the realities of the world.

I wouldn't kill them for fun either. They could serve a functional purpose. Many of them can be eaten. Some can be used to farm. Others can be used to hunt. Some provide milk, others provide eggs. And many can be used as service animals for the disabled or elderly.

I do see the value in the utility of animals. I'm just saying I don't see the value in the emotional attachment to them.

People form bonds with other people all the time. Why is it so weird that they form bonds with animals as well?

They're fully capable of showing affection for people and even animals of other species, so why should we not show affection for them when they are often such loyal companions to us?

All right, I can't find the exact link, but it was on the feels channel on a mother post, and you were explaining how your mother sent you and yoour brothers out to a back alley everytime you went somewhere, and he said it was too bad you were a brony. I replied to him saying just because he's a brony his emotional hardship doesn't matter, **** you. Something like that. Anyway that was before I clicked on his channel and found out he had been banned.
