This is a better angle.
Its same basic design with a bit of streamlining. Really not too different.

I realize they're "relatively" similar, but like I said they look like they're straight out of Tron now.

And its not just the helmets, the armor looks like it got a bit of a downgrade as well. It almost looks like the armor from Space balls.

They were going to change it any way. It was probably going to be chrome tron-look or Masterchief halo-look.

Nigga, how is it even possible to have a step down from the original armors? Those things were super cheaply made. The new ones actually look pretty menacing now.

The earlier movies were cinematically superior in every way to the prequels down to the use of puppets. The acting caliber in all six movies is pretty mediocre except for a few actors who REALLY carried the whole cast (Ford, McGregor, Neeson, for example) and the writing is pretty cheesy altogether...

But episodes 5 and 6, especially 5, were excellent. Episode 5 in itself can honestly be considered one of the best films to hit the screen for sci-fi.

Not saying you're retarded, but you have a woefully unpopular opinion on this.
User avatar #166 - subaqueousreach (11/30/2014) [-]
I understand its an unpopular opinion, but there are just so many inconsistencies in 5 and 6, not to mention all the "fixes" Lucas made to the films. I also think its pretty stupid that Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader are the same person and that alone basically guaranteed the prequels to fail story wise since Lucas can't write a good story to save his life.

I know, but that doesn't mean that you can't make one, vibroswords are made with a cortosis weave or mandalorian iron, both of which are able to withstand a lightsaber blow. the point of my first comment was that using a lightsaber crossguard is stupid because if you accidentally hit it then your gonna lose some fingers.

I know that but I was more referring to the one in the trailer. which I didn't see one on the lightsaber
User avatar #205 - subaqueousreach (11/29/2014) [-]
That's probably because a "Cortosis Weave" is a special blend of the metals used to craft the weapon, since Cortosis is an ore and can be smelted and forged with other metals. It's not some little gizmo you slap on a weapon that makes it lightsaber proof.

True, but a guard like that still limits your movements with it. I am not expecting a jedi to cut off his own hand but this thing still is clumsy.
#318 - greyblade (11/30/2014) [-]
true, this is a hilt that requires a little extra care, but the same can be said of all variants.

if you can't keep track of both blades on a double bladed saber, you could easily be focusing on one and cut yourself with another. same goes for using two lightsabers. the guard shoto variant has its drawbacks, as did dooku's curved hilt.

simply put, all lightsaber designs have some level of risk, so the users tend to train for a fairly long time until they're so unconsciously careful with it that it's not a danger.
#322 - astarothaufromage (11/30/2014) [-]
Yeah but they had an upside to it, this saber's design doesn't. Oh and I never said i agreed with the double blade either. That shit is extremely unpractical.
#323 - greyblade (11/30/2014) [-]
the ability to prevent the saber sliding down your blade helps.

and the double-bladed saber is actually quite smart - the main advantage is psychological: the two blades are connected, so if you know where one is, you know where the other is. people who are inexperienced with it will try and keep track of both blades separately, which is hard if not impossible, and will help break their concentration on the fight.
#324 - astarothaufromage (11/30/2014) [-]
Lightsabers don;t slide when they touch. Also, a jedi wouldnt fall for that.
#325 - greyblade (11/30/2014) [-]
yes they do, and yes, they do.

Here's an ex-jedi master falling for exactly this trick: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvTa1vxmY3M&feature=youtu.be&t=2m17s
#326 - greyblade (11/30/2014) [-]
assuming by "fall for that" you mean the sliding blade. if you mean the double bladed saber thing, all I have is the word of an ancient sith battlemaster.
#327 - astarothaufromage (11/30/2014) [-]
I meant the double blade thing. And well, lightsabers shouldn't slide, so I am not counting that.
#328 - greyblade (11/30/2014) [-]
ah, well there's less readily available evidence for that, but it's more or less "someone good with a weapon you don't know is probably gonna beat ya." also it's quite good defensively, covers more area.
User avatar #270 - hydraetis (11/29/2014) [-]
Well Darth Vader couldn't move his arms for shit but he still managed to kick asses. And it doesn't really limit you that much, if he's moving it in a way where the side blades are coming in range of him he can just spin it a little bit and the blades won't get him.
#313 - astarothaufromage (11/30/2014) [-]
Certainly true, but it was Vaders armor that limited his movement. Unlike the crossguard that armor did provide protection to make up for it. Sabers usually don;t slide when they touch, they sometimes do but that's just a little flaw in writing or something. Besides that, you still can't a sword with it like a forked saber. So even while a forcesensitive wouldn't be bothered too much, it still has no practical use.
User avatar #320 - hydraetis (11/30/2014) [-]
Sure it doesn't, but style is an incredibly important factor in everything. Hence why lightsaber fighting techniques involve so much spinning and flipping and whatnot. If you aren't kicking ass in style, then there's no point kicking ass at all.
#321 - astarothaufromage (11/30/2014) [-]
Well.. Can't argue with that. I really can't. I wanted to say it still looks silly but honestly it only looks impractical. I like claymores, so I can give this saber a shot.

All right, I can't find the exact link, but it was on the feels channel on a mother post, and you were explaining how your mother sent you and yoour brothers out to a back alley everytime you went somewhere, and he said it was too bad you were a brony. I replied to him saying just because he's a brony his emotional hardship doesn't matter, **** you. Something like that. Anyway that was before I clicked on his channel and found out he had been banned.
