My point is that you're at fault for not trying to get over that feeling, whether "hatred" or "disgust." It's no less ignorant than saying you're freaked out by mentally retarded people. Not to say obese people are subject to the same degree of genetic defects and have as little control over their condition. Though it isn't inaccurate to say Americans are subjected to unhealthy food since childhood, considering the horrible state of our school lunches. But it's pathetically juvenile to feel perturbed by something so inconsequential, as far as how it compares to the important characteristics that should define your association with an obese person. Simply put, get over it.

You should feel at fault for not being able to conquer an anxiety rooted in irrational beliefs. There are processes to assess the subconscious reasons of behaviors and sentiments, but some people are too lazy to seek out the sources.

I don't know why I should feel at fault, if obesity wasn't a thing my "irrational hate" wouldn't exist and this conversation wouldn't be taking place.

Also, I don't hate obesity. I don't feel anger towards someone because they are obese, I feel sick to my stomach knowing that the human body can become that overgrown and grotesque.

User avatar #49 - Ruspanic (09/17/2012) [-]
There's no need to justify obesity. People have a right to be as fat as they want, just as they have a right to smoke until they have lung cancer or to cover themselves in tattoos and piercings. (They don't have a natural right to taxpayer-funded services to support their poor choices, but that's a different issue.)
It's a personal decision that's really none of your business.
#28 - blacktothefuture (09/17/2012) [-]
Woah there, bro. Sure, obesity is nothing to be proud of, and those who just eat and eat are bad people. But the original idea behind this post is that people usually only think skinny people are attractive...

This girl probably doesn't like the fact she is fat, but she's showing that she will not change just so people will find her attractive. A lot of fat people don't strive to be fat. They accept it and want to lose weight for their health. I agree we shouldn't help those who want to be fat, but slaughtering them is wrong, even if they aren't blonde haired and blue eyed.
#34 - thepenname (09/17/2012) [-]
Except being "overweight" does not always mean being unhealthy. If you've never seen a Samoan athlete, you'd be amazed about how much mass and flab they have considering how agile they can be. Then there are those who eat decently and do exercise but still maintain significant fat, either because they're not eating the right foods to speed up their metabolism or maybe they still consume a bit too much. It's quite possible for someone overweight to be healthier and even more athletic than a slim person. And even a slim person can be incredibly unhealthy. I remember once there was a study on cadavers of American soldiers who had come back from Iraq that showed many of them, despite being fit-looking young adults, had the cholesterol of middle aged men. Overweight people's undeterred obsession with losing weight is based on aesthetics more than any practical benefit. Not that there's anything wrong with that, so long as you're safe with your weight loss methods.

None of this applies to obese people, by the way.

I apologize if my opinion on the matter offends you in some way, but I actually can't physically handle even the idea obesity. There have been times where I have vomited in public at the sight of it. I'm not sure why it perturbs me to this extent, but it does and thus the reason for my opinion. Think me an asshole, a monster, or even Hitler-esque in my views, it's how they are.
#27 - N. Korean citizen (09/17/2012) [-]
However, it's funny (and by funny, I mean sad) that people with anorexia are very often look on as victims when they come out with their problems, while over-eaters are labeled as disgusting, even though they are very often caused by the same mental issues. You wouldn't tell someone with anorexia to just get over it and eat something, but very often people are told to just cut down their food and get som exercise.
User avatar #31 - inthenameofcake (09/17/2012) [-]
But a lot of people who you consider anorexic probably don't have mental issues, they're perfectly healthy people who just suffer from weight problems. They often get bullied because they're thin, just like fat people are for being fat.
However, those people have a reason. They can't help it.
You can't just go 'oh its natural that i fucking love cake'
User avatar #214 - localcatbarber (09/17/2012) [-]
No, of course, but you don't know who of the overweight have issues, so maybe we should stop making them all feel bad? Same goes for thin people.
User avatar #29 - subaqueousreach (09/17/2012) [-]
I tell people who are too skinny to eat a fucking steak and put some meat on their bones. I can't say it bothers me nearly as much as obesity does, but I still find it physically disturbing.

All right, I can't find the exact link, but it was on the feels channel on a mother post, and you were explaining how your mother sent you and yoour brothers out to a back alley everytime you went somewhere, and he said it was too bad you were a brony. I replied to him saying just because he's a brony his emotional hardship doesn't matter, fuck you. Something like that.
