I thought it was a $400 requirement? Which would be super hard to get with .99 cent mods... 100 is more... agreeable, but I personally think 50 to 75 would be better with that sort of cut. If the cut was only like 10-25% then 100 would probably be fine.

I'm not sure Bethesda themselves, or Valve, has ever put mods down for anything like that, excluding ones that were literally their games but pirated... Although I don't think that 'Black Mesa' mod that was Half-life remade was ever put down... I don't know any other information on that stuff, so no comment.

It's okay, I forgive you. I don't go on reddit, if that tells you anything, so my information is always slightly off and definitely not always up to date.

I think the $400 came from people talking about modders selling $1 mods.

If your mod is $1, you receive 25¢ for each sale. Once your profits reach $100 or higher, then they'll send you a cheque. This means that a $1 mod will have to sell 400 times for the modder to receive money. Considering my friend successfully sold a hat in TF2 for $65 dollars, I don't see this being an issue. He did it as a joke. It sold in 30 minutes.

The reason the minimum payout is $100 is due to processing fees and taxes. Its cheaper to give a few large sums of money than to give a lot of small sums of money. This also means the modders lose less to processing fees with their respective banks and they can also get a possible tax return benefit through modding.

It was a joke, and get ready for double messages from the same person. d(' ')z

I also have never had my Xbox red ring, but I also haven't played it in a very long time. I think the last time I played it was for Spelunky and that was like a year ago. None of the games on it really kept my attention and most of them started going directly to steam, you know?

It might explode if I turn it on due to all the dust on it though.

Making 1% of a game and making 1% of a mod are two different things.

For one, one of the best set of mods are all made from third party stuff. Bethesda has almost nothing to do with them, and Valve is only listing them in a workshop... Partly, at least, since Nexus exists. While they do give a foundation to work on for the modders, they definitely don't need to have that big of a cut, especially for mods like Graphic Overhaul mods and mods that fix the bugs in the game. Bugs that should be fixed by their hand, but are left to the modders anyways.

1% in my previous comment may have been a bit harsh, admittedly, but do you really consider them to have enough influence on that mod to get 45% of the work for it? 5-10%, maybe, but definitely not 45%. Not for a mod, and especially not for mods that are going to cost like... .99 cents.

Also, there was never any legal issues as far as I'm aware. I'm pretty sure Bethesda is okay with mods as long as it's on a real version of the game and not a cracked one.

Either way, some of the information, most given our during the Gabe-reddit thing, was not around when I made my previous comment. B.. But I'm not stupid. ;-; Geez~

I totally agree that modders should receive more than a 25% cut, especially with the requirement to earn $100 before they receive any funds from the sales. But Bethesda does have the right to take as large a cut as they desire since they own the product. Its a dick move to take so much, but its their call.

As for legal issues I was mostly referring to people who would ask for donations to keep making their mods as they would be making money through use of copyright materials without permission to do so. Its a legal grey area, but companies have shut down mods and projects before without any form of payment, donation or otherwise, simply because they don't want their content used.

And sorry for the stupid part, I'm just sort of geared towards assuming people are assholes on funny junk so I treat everyone accordingly until proven otherwise. If it makes you feel better you were technically in the "haven't read enough into the subject" category.

All right, I can't find the exact link, but it was on the feels channel on a mother post, and you were explaining how your mother sent you and yoour brothers out to a back alley everytime you went somewhere, and he said it was too bad you were a brony. I replied to him saying just because he's a brony his emotional hardship doesn't matter, **** you. Something like that. Anyway that was before I clicked on his channel and found out he had been banned.
