That's probably the only good argument for that side. I think that would actually been doable, but they probably didn't think of this until halfway through production of season 2, at least.

Lauren Faust worked on the idea for this episode, so they had the idea since before the end of season 1.
How much they worked on it, I don't know. It could've been one of those things they just didn't think of

Both two excellent points... I still think if they were that close he should have been pre-mentioned... It seems to me shining armor was just a character they decided to pull out at the last minute... Still the best two episodes ever...

I agree, he literally popped out of nowhere. Well, atleast we got some info about him from Twilight. Still, it bugs me that Twilight never even tried to visit him during the episodes, when her friends and her go to Canterlot.

There's always all that time off camera. At ADTI they calculated the 1st season alone covers almost a year and a half in the shows' world.
