Opening kingside knight is never a bad idea, but it usually will just develop into classic e4 openings such as the Ruy Lopez, Scotch Game and Italian Game. The queen-side knight opening, or "Dunst opening", is less seen, as black can still develop their d-file pawn without considerable threat. Generally advancing your knights past the 3rd row in the first couple of moves isn't very useful, unless you are trying an opening trap against a beginner.
