It never says he killed the other Jedi in training.
It says he destroyed the Academy.

It is just as likely that he converted them all to the Dark Side as the Knights of Ren. (And IMHO, likely going to turn out as EXACTLY what happened.)

Seriously, i dont get how so many people deny the impact that shot had on kylo.

They make a point to show off how powerful those bow shots are. Like 3 fucking times. It knocks motherfuckers off their feet, small explosions and shit. It shrekts people.

He gets a solid fucking gut shot on kylo. It definitely took the wind out of his sails, and was IMO the only thing that kept kylo from obliterating finn and rey.

Yeah. IMO it was intentional to establish his rise in power level in the next movie.

I really see why they dampened his abilitues and powers a bit for the first movie. There would be no place to go if this amazing sith walked around and annihilated everything with a flick of his hand in the first 10 mins of the movie. They kept bouncing back to the whole guidance/lost between dark and light/ need to be stronger aspect which shows him as someone who isnt all powerful. And i think thats what people dont like about it.

They had all these ideas that this dude is a star killer badass thats basically vader 2.0, and theyre raging because they feel he didnt live up to it.

technically they do, i mean a blaster bolt blurs because of the fact that our eyes can't keep up with it, but we still see it, making it look longer than it actually is, so while he had the reflex, to do it from a position he wasn't looking at makes it completely instinctive, force intuition, what bugs me is that the bolt would under his spell not stay the same length, in my opinion.

it may have dissipated, or continued it's movement from where it left off after his force's influence left, for that purpose i think it was just more thematically sound to let it continue... however that implies that once kylo effects something with the force through paralysis, they are no longer subject to forces such as that of light, or physics, based on how it plays out in the movie, that puts his force paralysis on quite another level.

and this is the problem, if he has that sort of control with no noticeable repercussions he has the potential to become the greatest sith that has ever lived, as long as he fills a few requirements vader didn't like killing someone he loves, check, or not getting completely crippled and losing three limbs, making it harder to use the force because he has prosthetics, check... yep, he's got this shit, no one sees that cause he's a whiny little bitch though, don't think it will be the same after his training.
