What will music sound like in 100 years?
User avatar #130683 - kaisakuenkou (10/14/2014) [-]
I think the outer auditory system would be skipped; no sounds. Instead, certain signals would stimulate specific sensory receptors inside the brain, emulating an entire spectrum of emotions inside the primary auditory cortex where we would experience a stupor of aurul dysphoria and euphoria, simultaneously.

That's like saying books will be replaced with just downloading a movie to your head. It's similar results, different disciplines.

Books and Movies tell stories, Music doesn't necessarily have to

Except thats information

I'm saying no concepts, no ideas, no data, only feelings, all the feelings. An orgasmic emotional rollercoaster triggered by signals, the same way everyday things would trigger an emotional response, but without the trigger, just the response.
User avatar #130702 - thebestpieever (10/14/2014) [-]
And I'm saying that's not the same discipline. That's why I drew the movie and book comparison. The focus of both is to tell a story, hopefully to evoke a reaction. But a book is more than a cheaply made movie, the language is of utmost importance and the pacing at which you are carried along it's different. They may move through the same motions, and maybe elicit the same reactions, but at the end of the day it's a different craft altogether. There is more than an end result to a discipline, there is a process.

I see you mean "thats not music" but you're stuck in the past
User avatar #130704 - kaisakuenkou (10/14/2014) [-]
In the future, you wouldn't need that process, why try to evoke emotion, when you can do it with a press of a button?
User avatar #130737 - thebestpieever (10/14/2014) [-]
Because there's more than pragmatism to any given craft. No one stopped drawing after pictures came along. Hell, no one even stopped trying to perfectly replicate a human face with pencils after pictures came along. The craft of something matters to the people who make it. People who enjoy their craft are not going to give it up for more practical reasons that disregard the process they enjoy.

" Metal is a diverse genre and theyre doing something unique."
Although it's pretty shit. I mean, Gimme Chocolate is a good song

only if you split it into the metal part and the pop part.

Put the pop parts and the metal parts together and it's a piece of shit with no flow

I disagree, I think they are the best genre blenders since System of a Down. Their debut is in my top five this year up there with Triptykon and Behemoth. I'd put Conquering Dystopia and Mayhem above those three but w/e.

If you're after genre blenders... Between the Buried and Me "Extremophile Elite" (LIVE)

Yeah, I love BTBAM. They've come a long way from the generic death-core brats they used to be. By this point they are really their own thing, which is awesome.
