I once knew a guy who was part of the first emergency team that showed up on car crash sites. He had to examine the people that were in the crash and put different color bands on them so paramedics would instantly know who needed the most. can't remember the colors exactly, but one was for fine, another for small injuries, and the list goes up to dead. There was one color (i think purple) he hated more than any other, even more than the dead one. It standed for that the person is alive, but there is no idea in helping him, he won't make it any way. Once he showed up at a car crash were in one car there was a kid and his mom, first he put a black one (for dead) on the mother, then he had to put a purple one on the kid, after this the kid asked where is mommy, to which he replied "don't worry, you'll see her soon". The kid died half a minute later.
He quit hes job after that.
