| cant humans doggy paddle instinctively? hence them being able to sort of swim? idk maybe its a hit and miss thing. Infants are born knowing how to swim, but they soon forget. Humans have such large heads in proportion to their bodies, so the skull isn't fully developed to allow giving birth more bearable. That's why humans are so dependent, when other animals are ready to go as soon as they are hatched or born. At least I think so. | ||

anon (11/06/2014) [-] No, no, no. Don't be silly. That would be terrible. They ate the Hadji. WORD REFERENCE FOB - Forward Operating Base BFE - Fum Fuck Egypt. "Bumfuck, Egypt is first documented in army slang from 1972" "HE with a 203" - "High-Explosive Round, fired by a M203 grenade launcher. The HE round has an olive drab aluminum skirt with a steel projectile attached, gold markings, and a yellow ogive. It arms between 14 and 27 meters, produces a ground burst that causes casualties within a 130-meter radius, and has a kill radius of 5 meters." Thank you. I really needed this. All those army abbreviations mean fuck all to me. That HE sounds like one dangerous motherfucker. Also I though casualties meant deaths? Or is that kill radius as in "Definitely pepsi" And 130m is maybe pepsi? Also why the fuck does the thing arm after only 14m? What if it misfires? kill radius is 5 meters meaning you are absatively POSOLUTELY fucking dead. Casualty radius is 130 meters because Casualty means "somebody injured or dead". At 130 meters the shrapnel from the casing can fly and fuck somebody up or the fucktard in question suffers brain damage from the shock of the explosion. So yes. Kill radius = Pepsi Casualty Radius = Possible Pepsi chance for Coke Misfire= Bad fucking day. It arms after 14 meters because the round arms itself after a certain amount of rotations, because the round (as it flies through the air) spins. I forget how many rotations it takes to arm but the distance is about 14 meters for it to spin enough times to arm. #47 -
alexanderh (11/05/2014) [-] You can get hurt if you're within 130 meters, but it shouldn't kill you unless you get hit by one of the fragments. And sometimes, you need to shoot the grenade at something close to you. You can shoot it around a wall or other cover, which should make sure you don't get hurt too. Also, casualties just means that you're incapacitated, not dead. You can't continue fighting, but you're not necessarily dead. >definitely pepsi >maybe pepsi Leave my sides out of this, they have done nothing to you! It's stories like this that get me super excited for the military. (I'm joining the Marines. Signing the contract in a couple months when I graduate ) Only join the Marines if you love everything about the military and want the shittest, most respected experience. If you'll miss home, even a little bit, please join another branch, i've seen it too much. If you're going to be away from home, go all out anyway with the Marines, its the toughest. But if you want to lesson the shit you will have to deal with, join an easier branch like the army or navy. -Marine Feel free to message me any questions you may have What's your take on American guys in the Legion? I've heard that since they either share an FOB or are in close proximity with each other, tension gets a little high and the word "Traitor" starts to get thrown around a lot. I'm planning on joining the Legion in a few years and I've gotten mixed responses from some people at my gym, who most of which were in some branch of the military Im sorry i have no knowledge of the subject of FOB relationships with foreign units. I do know Marines give other American branches shit because its all in good humor, such as fighting with your siblings. But they hold civilians and foreigners in high regard. A foreign officer was making rounds at a naval air base i was training at. He looked egyptian, and had gold all over his shoulder epaulets. So i saluted him like we do when crossing any officer, tight and proper and they always seem surprised at the level of effort given into a formal respectful salute. They always smile and i look straight ahead. As the weeks pass the officer and his friends looked happier and happier to be there. Its just what i was trained to do when meeting officers. No, missing home won't be a problem, leaving is one of the reasons I'm joining. And the shittiest experience is exactly what I want haha. I have talked to recruiters about the Navy and Army also (the fucking National Guard won't let the fuck up haha) and the Navy does sound like it'd be an easier experience and probably have better benefits in the long run but I've always wanted to be a Marine and I'm definitely signing up for them. I went to the recruiter the other day. I got turned down because I had an asthma attack when I was 13. It wasn't even a real asthma attack, I was in the hospital and it was brought on by medicine the doctor gave me which other doctors were saying it's fucking stupid to give me. The only place that will take me is the FFL. But no contractors would turn down an ex-Legionnaire, so I guess there's that Good luck dude, maybe we'll both be in some shithole getting bombed by Muslims someday. Also remember you can't swap ammo with FFL, the round is the same but the casing is different and it will jam your gun and gunk up the barrel I was considering joining up with a PMC or the Legion when my time was up (if I end up enjoying military life, which to be honest anything has to be better than this boring shit I've been doing the past 18 years), what's the FFL like? Buuuuuuut despite my parents having been fine with it a week ago, now my dad's threatening to disown me and my mother is a crying mess screaming that she doesn't want me to go and go to college instead. I do not want to go to college, the reason I'm joining the military in the first place is because I hate everybody and want to join a PMC. But I can't stand seeing my parents like that, so it looks like I'm going to college for at least 2 years then they say this bu I don't buy it I can do whatever I want and they'll be happy. At least I found some programs for university where I can go to another country in Europe and do uni for free because they want English speaking people to work there and teach English to company workers. So in theory I could do this in France, learn French, then join the Legion with a better success rate because I already speak the language. The plan is to work PMC for 6-10 years then retire, which is easily doable and then some if I go to the right company. No clue, my 18th was just Saturday. I spoke to the recruiter for the Marines about 3 miles from my house, did some physical the guy actually goes to my gym, so I knew him already and we did most of it there just to see where I was at and what I'd need to work on. Spoiler alert: I'm shit at pullups and mental tests, and he said I was good to go and if I got college before I went in I could qualify with the Army for Special Forces. But then when I turned in my medical records and I got turned down. Legion os basically the French marine corp, but since the regular French military is primarily Spec Op forces like the Dagguet, FFL is the general military arm of France. It used to be for fuck ups who got into trouble with the law or outlaw in there own country because they give you an entirely new identity After a year you can ask to have your old identity back if you're not wanted or anything . But now it's had the requirements changed to be a more demanding and respectable group. You can't have any outstanding warrants with Interpol, or be wanted for Drug trafficking, murder, or any other serious crimes in your home country You cannot be under the influence of drugs or alcohol in the past 30 days, they test you and it's the expensive test You need to get to France yourself, they don't pay for anything if you fail 1 in 12 make it because of the physical testing, which includes running I think 25 meters down and back before a clock beeps, with the time getting shorter each time 4 pullups to walk in the door to begin with I'm fucked for right now 10 is the accepted standard Oh boy And they teach you French, because that is the only language you are allowed to speak for the next 5 years Really I have to work on pullups because I'm fairly big, but the rest is not a problem. I have a friend I do that stuff with every week so I should be ok. Also they don't give a shit if you die at any point Yeah I knew all that. I miss read your comment, I thought you had already been in the FFL. I can't seem to find anybody that was to actually vouch for the experience. My dad is totally cool with me going to the marines (I haven't told anybody that I plan on joining a PMC or the FFL yet, because I'm not sure If I want to yet but going to college and getting an office job doesn't sound like my cup of tea. Life fast die young right?) but my mom is completely against anything that isn't college. That's just how it goes though I guess lol. There's like 3 people on Youtube who are ex FFL who all say "Oh it was shit don't do it so bad" but they never actually talk about their experience, only the training. Even the training is on par with the Marine corps, said by an ex-marine in a documentary that was on the other night. My guess would be that if you opt in for desert training btw they ask you on a form what is your most preferred place of operation: Desert, Forest, Mountain, Jungle, Urban or Snowy for lack of a better word and me forgetting what the term actually was you're going to be in Iraq/Afghanistan. And I hear you about getting an office job. I really don't see the point in college right now as the country is. You go $300,000+ in debt so you can supposedly get a decent job, but nobody wants you these days because you don' already have experience. So now you're in massive debt and working at an office behind a desk all day just waiting for the day you go home and put a bullet in your head. That's not the way I want to live. I'd much rather be in a shithole desert giving and receiving potshots from someone else for a few years, then probably get shot in Angola for $500,000 a year. At least something happens, and once it's over it's over $500,000 a year!? I'm pretty sure Legion pay is around that of military pay is around military pay in the US (somewhere in the $1,000 a month range) so I assume you're talking about PMC's? I've never looked up pay for those. Do they seriously pay that good? When my dads friend got out of the Army a couple years back I know he got offered around 300k to go hunt Somalian pirates but he had had top secret clearance and what not while in the Army, he turned it down it though because he has a wife and a kid and is now working construction for like $11 or $12 an hour. That is what I don't want to happen. Legion pay is like $20,000 for the first 3 years, then becomes the same as US pay since it's on a 5 year contract PMC it depends who you work for and what you do. Somali pirates were a huge problem a while ago so it's probably $100,000 a year now if you only do that, and you go for a big company. If you go to, say, Academi Blackwater after it got bought and renamed. They also now work for the US government exclusively you get paid a lot more depending on what you do, where you do it, and who you do it for. I read that most PMC's are payed per job, like $15,000 for watching over a pineapple farm for Dohl in Angola or wherever it is because the locals want them out. So you sit watching a gate or making patrols, or if you're ex-sniper on a hill somewhere watching the place. It all depends who you work for Another thing to watch out for though is that if you're a PMC you're regarded as a mercenary, and under the Geneva Convention, mercenaries are not required to have any of the rights of normal POW's. So say you're working for the Ukrainians against Russia, and you get captured. They are allowed to cut off your dick, fry it up, and make you eat it. It's allowed because you're not a POW. So you do need to be both very experienced in war to make sure that does not happen, and very careful in where you do your work #60 -
blackmanrollipolli (11/05/2014) [-] Marine: My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment. Hooyah buddy, I'm in DEP for the Navy, i ship to basic 02052015. It'll be the best job of your life. I've been on the phone with Houston for about an hour. Trying to see if they know about any flights heading up soon so I can get my sides back. EOD guy never stopped getting shit because a goat did his job better than him the goat will now provide energy for them to fight the sandniggers, that's the way I want to go You want to be shot point blank in the middle of nowhere and have your corpse cannibalized by your comrades? Whatever floats your funeral pyre, I guess. >buried deep where I will be food for worms, and promptly forgotten >eaten by comrades I fought alongside with to provide them with the energy they need to keep fighting, plus no one forgets eating another human so I doubt they will ever forget me | ||
