I think it deserves the attention mainly because it and Wreck it Ralph show Disney is not only moving in a new direction but that they're also doing so in ingenious fashion.
Frozen is Disney's Shrek. It is a clever film that establishes traditional princess movie tropes and then thoroughly demolishes them whilst being both funny and heart-warming. Shrek -MADE- Dreamworks, and Frozen -MADE- Disney's 2nd Renaissance. If there was any worry that Tangled was a fluke success or that Wreck it Ralph showed Disney abandoning their formula then Frozen has not only quelled it, it's crushed it.
Whilst I personally prefer Wreck it Ralph I can't deny that it is a Dreamworks movie being made by Disney (in a similar vein as to how HTTYD is a Disney movie made by Dreamworks... seriously, it's based on successful extant material, has kid-friendly changes, takes itself seriously, has glorious animation... you get the idea). Anyway, Wreck it Ralph is Disney doing something original and different and hitting it out of the park. Frozen is them doing something traditional in a really new way.
For the past decade or so Disney has not been at their best and everything they've done has been either a fluke or fairly mediocre... at best. What Frozen shows is that Disney are not only back in business but they, once again, RULE the animation industry and Frozen was them flexing their huge brass balls and knocking Pixar from its podium before pushing Dreamworks into the mud.
So wether the movie deserves 'all' the praise it gets or not, I think what the movie shows/stands for/represents deserves all that praise and more because for the first time in about a decade you can look at Disney and say "I can't wait to see what they've got in store for next time!"
(Oh, and on another note, the Lego movie kicks ass... there have been a -LOT- of good family movies recently. Kinda odd but an interesting trend none the less.)

That's a fair argument.
There were a couple of fairy tale rules that Disney has been known for that it effectively destroyed in this film and it was genuinely funny when it happened. I just think the film was a little too built up for me by its fans when I saw it and I don't think it's as ground breaking as they claim to be. It breaks traditional rules but not traditional rules that haven't already been broken before.
Also, Olaf and the trolls were generally annoying to me. Olaf was nice for comedic relief and a clever representation of what this sisters had but he kept talking over nearly every serious moment and it diminished a lot as a result.
The trolls were necessary, their song wasn't (neither was Olaf's but whatever). There was a pressing matter going on and the trolls were singing about utter nonsense for none other reason than I suppose to sway the viewer into thinking which course the movie will probably take in the end.
Frozen did a much better job at depicting the lesson Brave made an attempt to teach but Frozen also incorporated characters and moments that I just couldn't make myself like.
(And on your other note, I haven't seen the Lego Movie yet but I'm really looking forward to getting a chance to.)

I really liked Olaf, actually. I expected him to be much worse than he was, honestly. Yeah you could argue he was ultimately worthless in regards to the plot as a whole but at the same time you could argue that Olaf did more to push Anna and Kristof together than anything else in the film. The presence of a third character in the story worked to offset a lot of the romantic tension that would otherwise have built up between them. It made their adventure much more casual and in doing so set a different tone for the film than would have occurred otherwise.
Olaf could be removed and the plot would still have gone the same way that it did, however people seem to forget a lot that a story isn't made by it's plot. It's made by everything that goes into it and that includes the tone and the effect you have watching it, including laughter, and bearing that in mind Olaf is pretty indispensable because without him the humour would have probably become stale which would have affected the movie and the only ways to fix it otherwise would have been to change the tone of the movie as a whole or change Anna and Kristof into funnier characters which would also have changed the tone of the movie.
And as for the trolls... yeah that is an incredibly indulgent musical number. I figure the writers wanted the trolls to be more than just a plot device to serve the purpose of healing Anna/plot exposition which is what they ultimately were in the end and it's pretty unavoidable to boot. So rather than have the audience complain that the Trolls were just plot devices they did what they could to give them the most amount of character in the shortest space of time possible whilst keeping with the tone of the movie as best they could.
It's a fun little number and ultimately harmless, plus the Trolls are unaware of the crisis and Anna and Sven do try to get back on track a number of times so nobody is acting out of character in the scene, it's just a little jarring which was the point I think

I'm gonna get thumbed down for this.
It's a girl's movie. If you're a girl you'll enjoy it.
Or if you like girly things like mlp you'll enjoy it. I don't know you, so maybe you will.
But if stuff like mass amounts of singing doesn't appeal to you, avoid this movie.
Plot was good, male lead was a pointless character they would have done better not including and there was WAY too much singing.
Overall, it's watchable... but grating.
