Because when the murderer says he's new in town we obviously have to believe him? And besides, new in town could mean he's been there a week or two and seen the guy head into the forest everyday. There's a forest behind my house, I could easily see if my neighbours went into it from my house. And maybe he stalked the guy to see his exact path because he's a murderer and murderers do weird things like find out people's schedules.

Yeah, but its still a bad story if you have to do that much explaining for it. The comic should justify itself and when you have to give a whole paraghraph about how it totally makes sense, it's a bad comic.

Or because it's a comic you don't need to know everything, you can just take the joke and not ask for the logical underpinnings to be laid out for you in a few panels.

Its just her thats a cockatiel, by the way. Oh, and just to clear the record, she didn't tell me her name either. Not too sure why. I just assumed it was a cockatiel thing and did the same.
