| It's not just about dressing, think about the post, if you dress provocatively and are under the heavy influence of drugs or alcohol and you get raped, that is their own fault for putting themselves in the position of vulnerability, and they should take responsibility that they somewhat contributed to being taken advantage of. Granted, the rapist should be punished because rape is illegal, but if you put yourself in that position where you can be taken advantage of, you have no one to blame but yourself, simple logic. Thats a bit like saying if you buy an Xbox you shouldn't complain if your account gets hacked your bank account gets emptied Or if you go outside and you get shot then it's your fault for going outside since that was your choice It's a completely case by case basis. If someone is just walking down the street and they get raped, it isn't their fault, however if a person goes to a party and does a bunch of drugs or drinks a lot of alcohol or both, it is their fault for putting his or herself in that position of vulnerability. The thing is, no one forces a person to drink a lot of alcohol or do a lot of drugs, that's why someone can only put some blame on his or herself because they weren't forced. And don't go the peer pressure route either, that's retarded. Rape is something very complex, unless there is a witness it's case by case and taking one's word against another. But if you do go outside and get shot, that's completely different, there are plenty of factors that could be thrown into that, maybe it was a hit, someone had a grudge, maybe it was random, but still the reason why that specific person got shot was because ultimately they went out, that's a risk of living in this world, same with the xbox being hacked and getting raped. Every decision you make has some sort of risk in it, like going outside could risk you getting attacked, or run over by a car, it's just life. Everything can't be put into one blanket statement, especially rape, it's more complicated than simple comparisons. so everything bad that has happened to you has been your own fault No, not all, all I'm saying is that life has many risks in it, and anything can happen, and if it does, well then we just have to be able to transcend whatever happened. so despite it being a risk, you are accepting being raped is never your fault? not exactly, However I will accept you have probably won this debate already It's just the way i see it as If you do something you accept the risks but if something happens to you no matter what the risk was then it's not your fault if you've not done anything wrong (no matter what you choose to wear, its not wrong) Or... everything is your fault because you took the risk and it happened. Lets not forget the women who dress respectably but still nice. By your logic, it would seem you could say it was 60% her fault for wearing a pretty bright coat. If she'd went for a black umbrella instead of a pretty pink one, then it'd only be 55% her own fault #408

N. Korean citizen (08/06/2012) [-] y do they dress and dress like that? to attract boys obviously. should know that some dont take no for and answer. You should be smarter than to dress half-naked and do mind-altering drugs at a dark and noisy place where everyone is too high to realize what's going on and not expect someone to take advantage of you. It's called thinking ahead and being cautious. | ||

N. Korean citizen (08/06/2012) [-] No one DESERVES to be raped. That's retarded. But if you're high and nearly naked surrounded by a bunch of horny dudes, they're probably going to want to have sex with you. Just because someone dresses like the kkk, it doesn't mean they should be beaten up. No one said they deserve to be raped, all the post is trying to point out is that you should take responsibility for your actions and be mature about it It's not just about dressing, think about the post, if you dress provocatively and are under the heavy influence of drugs or alcohol and you get raped, that is their own fault for putting themselves in the position of vulnerability, and they should take responsibility that they somewhat contributed to being taken advantage of.
