what reasons are there that a person can't get vaccinated?
User avatar #135 - sailorstarsun (02/08/2015) [-]
Newborn babies can't get vaccinated.

Shitty immune system, mostly.
User avatar #121 - nanako (02/08/2015) [-]
do you see any problem in expecting all of society to do something for a few evolutionary failures?

i would think any such person would need to live in hospital, or a bubble, anyways. There are a lot of diseases we don't have vaccines against.
User avatar #122 - testaburger (02/08/2015) [-]
Sane thing could be said about handicapped people, and pretty much any person who hasn't had kids. Fuck those people, right?

Some people are highly sensitive to certain compounds found in most vaccines. They also can't get vaccinated.
User avatar #123 - nanako (02/08/2015) [-]
no. Handicapped people can have wheelchairs, crutches, glasses, hearing aids, sight-dogs, prosthetic limbs or blades, and a bunch of numerous other solutiosn (which are typically paid for by the government)

My point is that all of these (aside from wheelchair ramps, which aren't a major issue) are ways of partially fixing the problem, instead of expecting everyone else to adapt. The mentality here is simple. You are broken. Fix you, so you can function within normal society.

Expecting society to change to accomodate your personal needs is absurd, and if society cannot meet them then you shouldn't be in it.

The wheelchair ramp issue specifically, can be easily resolved by using ramps instead of stairs (or possibly even stairs WITH ramps built in) which are relatively low in cost to implement, and cause zero inconvenience to anyone. There is no reason NOT to have everything acessible with a ramp by default.
User avatar #124 - testaburger (02/08/2015) [-]
You're still paying for these "few evolutionary failures" as you call them.
User avatar #125 - nanako (02/08/2015) [-]
no, the government is paying for them. The only thing i'm paying for is my taxes, as usual. I do not have to do anything above and beyond my normal functions as a citizen. I would still be paying taxes if they didn't exist. And i guarantee the government would find some other way to use that money if it didn't have crutches and glasses to buy, they wouldn't hand it back.

I'm not a dude, and i'm a pretty vocal supporter of hitler, as are half this site's politically active members. he did nothing wrong <3

User avatar #126 - testaburger (02/08/2015) [-]
You're still paying for it.

And I guarantee that most of the people who can't get vaccinated are infinitely more beneficial to society than some vegetable in a wheelchair.

#44 - applescryatnight (01/29/2015) [-]
unless its rapidly moving water in a sideways motion used to deflect incoming objects, sorta like a kinetic shield.
#85 - madoc (01/29/2015) [-]
Hmm... This makes me think, wouldn't a watershield moving rapidly in a diagonal pattern be a lot more likely to deflect an incoming projectile?
User avatar #93 - wallbuilder (01/29/2015) [-]
It'd be excellent against arrows and light projectiles but anything heavy would just plough through.
#94 - madoc (01/29/2015) [-]
But wouldn't it be more likely to deflect something heavy than a vertical shield would? Since you're not trying to stop the object. Just make it change direction and thus miss.
User avatar #96 - wallbuilder (01/29/2015) [-]
What do you mean by vertical shield?
#102 - madoc (01/29/2015) [-]
Well one that's flat so that the object hits it at a vertical angle.
User avatar #103 - wallbuilder (01/29/2015) [-]
A flat water shield would be great at stopping dust. Maybe a bit of sand. A moving water shield could stop/deflect arrows, small rocks. A big rock thrown by an earth-bender would go right through. You could freeze the water, though, in which case the rock would be stopped, shattering the ice in the process.
