if all you need to be a good leader is to be ruthless, then I guess you think Stalin, Hitler, Mao and other dictators were excellent.
User avatar #83 - tkfourtwoone (02/11/2015) [-]
...No, he's not
User avatar #104 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (02/11/2015) [-]
From an economics point of view he's actually done fairly well.
User avatar #115 - tkfourtwoone (02/11/2015) [-]
No, he hasn't. He's driven Russia's economy to the ground.

Especially the recent fall of the rouble is HIS fault.

Besides, you might want to check some REAL economical indicators
#124 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (02/11/2015) [-]
Reminds me which of these aren't real economic indicators?
#150 - anonymous (02/11/2015) [-]
If you consider that Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania who were all Soviet countries have double or triple the income of the average Russian, I'd consider the politicians in those countries to more successful than that dictator Putin, who I might add is only making money due to the fact that he runs the most corrupt gas station on this planet. THE ONLY REASON RUSSIA MAKES MONEY IS BECAUSE THEY CAN EXTRACT OIL, not because they produce anything of any worth.
User avatar #133 - tkfourtwoone (02/11/2015) [-]
That rise in numbers is stemmed from one thing and one thing only: export of natural resources.
That rise would have happened regardless of who was in charge.

Meanwhile, do please tell me more of Russia's industry. Oh wait, it has none. It produces nothing (except for military equipment), it doesn't manufacture anything.

Now, harsh reminder - the only countries who's economy thrive solely from selling their natural resources are and always have been Third World Countries.

Oh, and just a few more details:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Russia

"However, these gains have been distributed unevenly as 110 wealthiest individuals were found to own 35% of all financial assets held by Russian households. Since 2008 Moscow has been repeatedly named the "billionaire capital of the world" by Forbes. Poor governance means that Russia also has the second largest volume of illicit money outflows, having lost over $880 billion between 2002 and 2011 this way"

So yes, do please tell me more on how Putin is such a Glorious Leader who is obviously independent from the Russian oligarchs that rose to power after the USSR fell and are the ones actually in control of Russia.

P.S.: Oh, and you should also probably take a lesson on "how to inflate your economy by pen and make it seem better on paper"
P.P.S.: You just got school'd. Sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up, you're embarrassing yourself.
User avatar #139 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (02/11/2015) [-]
All these fucking strawman arguements, god damn
I never said anything about his independence from Russian oligarchs.
You said "He's driven Russia's economy to the ground." which simply isn't true. The numbers have stemmed under him, which is literally the only factor at hand here. The fact they stemmed because of exporting natural resources is irrelevant.

Sure, they have problems with income inequality, but not all the benefits the country has is negated by that
How about a sentence from the link you just sent me "Russia's energy exports fuelled a rapid growth in living standards, with real disposable income rising by 160%."
Did you even read the link you just sent me? Because a majority of the information on it supports me. The section they have about Putin's first ten years as leader is titled "Recovery and growth", and fun facts from that section include:
"Between 2000 and 2008, Russian economy got a major boost from rising commodity prices."
"The number of people living below poverty line declined from 30% in 2000 to 14% in 2008."
"In 2007 the World Bank declared that the Russian economy achieved "unprecedented macroeconomic stability."
User avatar #145 - tkfourtwoone (02/11/2015) [-]
"Russian leaders repeatedly spoke of the need to diversify the economy away from its dependence on oil and gas and foster a high-technology sector. In 2012 oil, gas and petroleum products accounted for over 70% of total exports. This economic model appeared to show its limits, when after years of strong performance, Russian economy expanded by a mere 1.3% in 2013"

Once again, that economic growth you're praising is in 90% from selling natural resources, an activity that really doesn't require much skill or planning.
Higher GDP/income -> automatic better living standards.

Furthermore, to back up why I maintain my statement that Putin drove the economy to the ground: www.wsj.com/articles/russia-to-cut-2015-budget-by-around-10-following-decline-in-oil-price-1421842914

Ergo, their main economical strength comes from the sales of oil & gas. So what exactly has Putin done in FIFTEEN FUCKING YEARS to make Russia more independent economy-wise?
As opposed to, I dunno... CHINA?!?

There's a damn good reason why Russia, despite its claims to being a superpower, is seldom considered a country good for business.

It's not a kid we're talking about though; i'm feeling sorry for them since i know how much parents care for their children (to an irrational level, in my experience), making them feel real despair from seeing that first hand (instead of being just a bit sad/angry like any other person), and i don't think they deserve that seeing as their daughter is grown up and made an extremely bad mistake.

In essence: you can't say that their daughter's actions are their fault, but they still feel the full emotional force of seeing something really bad happen to their child.

Now if they actually took the sites down permanently rather than just DDOS'ing something for a few hours then they should be applauded.
