Dude, Raul is awesome, but, fucking everyone else seems more badass in form of combat and such.

he gets better at combat if you max is affinity and tell him to be a desperado. he also gets a cool costume.

I didn't need him to be a badass, I needed someone to shoot people in the face if they got too close to me and, to that end, he did amazingly. Give the fucker a ranger sequoia and you can just casually walk through Quarry Junction without giving a shit. Honestly, it's not so much a case of him being a badass as it was disliking everyone else. I don't like Lilys' whole "loving grandma" thing, Cass' attitude gets annoying real fast, Boone is a god amongst men, but he's boring as shit, in 5 playthroughs I haven't even managed to run into Arcade and Veronica's so annoying I now only use her to blow up the BoS bunker and then shoot her in the back of the head afterwards.

Really, Raul is just the only option left. Doesn't talk too much, but you still notice he's actually there, he's not useless in combat, but at least he doesn't run off into the sunset to punch a rat like Veronica does or kill everyone 5km away, so I have to spend 15 minutes looking for the body to loot. Cass is a close second, but I'm still pissed at her for the bullshit I had to go through for her quest.

Arcade is at the Old Mormon Fort where the Followers of the Apocalypse is at in Freeway.

His companion quest gets you the Enclave power armor and a handful of Enclave old farts to help you in in the Hoover Dam quest.

So, basically, I missed out on next to nothing.

His armor and the Remnants set are actually the best sets of Power Armor in the game

Power Armor in NV tends to be pretty shit in comparison to others. Sure, you get 20 DT from it. But you also lose valuable Agility and speed. Compare it to the Sierra Madre guard set, or the Desert Ranger set, or the Riot set, or even just the NCR Ranger set, all of which are Light and provide 20 DT along with other benefits, and Power Armor just doesn't hold up. Sure you get the Strength bonus, but that's not a huge deal when you're losing Agility and Charisma

The Gannon set is ok, but it trades the Strength gain for 10+ Energy Weapons, while maintaining the lowered Agility and having extremely low durability

Power Armor in NV is really just cool looking instead of useful

After having john cassidy as my main companion in fallout 2, i was ecstatic to have his daughter along for the ride, plus I've got a mod that adds all her old dialogue back in (as before a patch she would comment on almost every location and was by far the most vocal companion and i love that).

Hell if i know, maybe they thought it gave her some kind of advantage over the other companions (and if everyone liked cass the most the others would have been a waste of time to voice/code/design/etc)
