It's meant to change how kids approach problems

The original ideal goal was to get kids to think like common core in their heads and therefore do mental math a lot easier down the line.

Problem is is that it was introduced in a really shoddy way, parents have no idea what the fuck is going on and neither do kids so when a kid goes "Dad i need help with this problem" and the parent solves it the way they were taught. The teacher counts it wrong because it's not the CC way.

Schools implemented CC because, well in my area at least, they got a boost of funding if they implemented it so they jumped on that opportunity.

My mom teaches second grade. Following Common Core, she's expected to teach seven-year-olds critical thinking, i.e. thinking about their own thought process.

I didn't cover that shit until I was nine. And the stories I have about her class...not just the students, but the bloody parents.
