That was part of the old jedi order. When Luke reformed it he taught that attachment is not a path to the dark side, but teaches compassion and humility and allows those with attachments to use those good feelings and desire to protect to increase their strength in the light. Really, if the old order had allowed attachment and marriage Anakin would have been able to be with padme but not in secret, they could have gotten legit help from the jedi and Anakin would never have fallen to the dark side.

They aren't supposed to have attachments. Since it's almost impossible to not be attached to your partner and children, most Jedi do take on a life of celibacy, but it's not required.

Actually, I think it was completely against the rules. That's why Anakin and Padme had to hide their relationship. They even said that Anakin would be expelled if they found out. In all honesty, I don't know why Anakin didn't just quit and go freelance Jedi without the restrictions. Arguably that would have also saved the galaxy from much horror and death.

To be fair, Disney and lucasfilm did say they're going to be taking things from the old canon and bringing it into the new canon such as a solo falling to the dark side, han and leia getting married and having a kid, and Rakata prime among other things.

That being said though, while Vos is canon (he even has a mention in episode 3 and shows up in episode I, and he's been in canon content such as SW the clone wars and SW: Dark Desciple) , he didn't have a son in this continuity, and as far as I know neither did ki-adi mundi.

However, it's possible that luke saw the errors in the old jedi order, and saw why his father fell, that he could have done away with the stupid parts of the jedi code like his legends counterpart.

Ki Adi is still canon, as is Voss.

Anakin IMO fell ultimately because he was manipulated from both sides. If it wasn't for the last mistake, Mace Windu insisting of killing Sidius, which is weird because they didn't act, react nor decide anything up until that point, it would have went differently I think.

Anakin was still unsure which side to pick up until that point.

Anakin was impulsive. He was not trained at the age most are. He had attachments already.

Quinlan Voss had a child, turned out fine, Ki Adi Mundi had many wives and children, turned out fine, aside from his troops killing him, Luke himself had a son named Ben Skywalker, went dark for a year or so, came back to the light and helped defeat numerous threats against the New Jedi Order.

Oh, i dont think Rey is Luke's kid, simply because it seems way too obvious. It'd be more of a plot twist if she wasn't. Was just talking about the fact that the rules against relationships don't exist anymore
