It's not just anti-homosexuality. It's anti-sin... In other words, the book that leaves no one condemned. Sin isn't measured by the amount of times some one does it, sin is binary. It's either you have, or you haven't. A ton of Christians don't get this, and just assume that someone's "imperfection" makes them inferior than thou. As Christ said. Tax Collectors and Prostitutes will enter the Kingdom before you (Meaning the Pharisees). A Homosexual and the Pope are just as imperfect as the other. Us as humans cannot comprehend this, but it makes sense. Life is governed ultimately by choice, what makes us good people is not that we chose to do good, rather that we rejected evil.

A huge majority of Christians don't know jack shit about Christ and His ministry. Neither do they know anything about the Major Prophets in the Old Testament. Christ's words were pretty clear, everyone is imperfect. The "holier than thou" mentality that many churchgoers and bible thumpers have is actually in the 7 Woes of the Pharasees, where Christ calls those who pray luxurious prayers to look Righteous and those who be charitable in order to look good in the eyes of man as "vipers" and "thieves". His ultimate woe was against "Religion" and the man made concoctions of God. God instructed the Jews to never personify Him. Sometimes, people will pull the "Levitican" and Numbers card and say that this encourages homophobia and slavery, well I don't see any other nation at the time that was "free". The other half is about hygene, in which anything that was not hygenic was considered "an abomination". There were rules on how and where to shit and bury people. People that bring this old crap up don't understand what Christianity really is and what it was originally about....that is the majority of Christianity. A clueless religion against the words of the man it's named after.

I’m totally with you on him calling out Pharisees for making the worship of the living God a “Religion” instead of a life sacrifice, that was a huge portion of his ministry as well, but what he called out in them most was their inability to see that he was the messiah, in other words, they lacked faith.
Also homosexuality is very clearly condemned in the New Testament in Romans 1 and Jesus also only refers to marriage as man and woman, and if you understand the biblical teaching of complementarianism, it’s very easy to make the case that the bible is in fact anti-homosexuality.
But that shouldn't matter in terms of how we treat them, since it is clear that we should be kind to all people and that all sins are equal and we are no better than any other sinner. I’ll readily admit my sins are as bad as anyone’s. Jesus definitely wanted us to take care of each other, not only Christians but all people, and I think the media makes people think that Christians are failing at this because they show 20 stories on how some drunk father who happened to go to church twice a year tried to beat the gay out of his kid, but don’t show any stories about missionaries to Africa, soup kitchens, food drives, etc, started by Christians.
tl;dr : 1) yes Jesus called out "Religion", but that's not the biggest problem. 2) we should take care of each other but we should also point out where people need help and the bible says that homosexuality is wrong but we should always be respectful and loving, like Jesus would want.

It's very admirable of them to do so, there's no doubt about that. The problem is that their policies are wrong, and even damaging.

The Catholic Church teaches that contraception is intrinsically evil, and that sex is bad, but safe sex is worse, so if they are going to have sex outside of marriage, then it is going to be unsafe, and if one partner has HIV, they will still have unsafe sex. What Africa needs is a Westernized family-planning, where they only get 1-3 kids, which they then feed and educate.

The Green-revolution was ideally supposed to stop hunger, but the world isn't simply like that, it just made it that more people survived, which then again got more kids that again needed more food. This kind of charity-work is what they're doing, but it only leads to perpetual poverty.

And then they tell them that condoms are worse than aids. It does jack shit to only give them food, as it just gives them more incentives to get more children, which then makes it so that they need more food, making it a vicious cycle of starvation and poverty.

Why do they need to teach religon though? Why can't people just go over there to teach them math, science, and general school stuff without changing the African people's beliefs?

Because they are missionaries, the "men and women of god" and since christianity is a religion that is supposed to be expended troughout the world, they are only doing their religion's goal. Which is a fair deal considering they do much, much more that that on bunch of countries that aren't worthy of any time or effort.

Yes, so you see my point: the human race won't do something for nothing.

Despite our intelligence, we are the biggest pest of a species.

I think that even in the name of religion, that definitely counts as altruism. I mean, even an atheist who helps people will probably feel good about it. It's not wrong to be rewarded for something good.

If you think you have it, go to a professional.

Just don't go on tumblr and claim you have it, you will instantly turn into a hamplanet third-wave feminist.
