Well you see you can. The Christian/Judaic God is a personal one. Not to mention all powerful, all knowing, and all loving. Given the context of Yahweh one can ask, "Why was he not there? Why did he let me suffer?" And of course the answered is always "because he didn't feel like it." but then you then ask. "why did he not care? how is this all loving or caring?"

i've wanted a tattoo of death for a while now...seriously considering this one

I think being death would be the ultimate punishment. Like, what if the worst person possible is stripped off all their evil, left with only compassion, sympathy, and love, but as punishment is forced to take everyone, the weak, the sick, the old, young children, and no matter how much he/she wants to help, to not have to be the end of these people, he/she is forced to watch them die, and then to take them away, as terrified as they may be. Not being able to do anything to help anyone, even though you want to so badly, and it kills you on the inside because all you can do is watch. Every. Single. Day.

He doesn't actually kill people. He just arrives after the fact to inform their spirit that they're dead and escort them to the afterlife.
