mistahlegend (04/29/2013) [-] Yeah, think. Not say, or write down. You don't walk up to a teacher and say, "Niggers are retarded monkeys" and get pissed off that you got suspended. The teacher was the one who asked If you don't want to hear someone's opinion, don't fucking ask them Do you really consider his answer an opinion? We're talking about sheep here. With people, there's some truth. But do you really think that black sheep eat less because they don't have a job to pay for groceries? He answered a question with little context, and made a racist joke. Funny, but it's 100% his fault for the suspension (although a suspension is WAY too much for that). #158

mistahlegend (04/29/2013) [-] The "opinion" was that white sheep work harder then black sheep. That's not a person's opinion, that's an attempt at being funny. Specifically, using racism as the main source of humor. | ||

| Yeah, so next time anybody goes into a Gamestop, remember that the only reason the employee is practically begging you to make a reserve or buy/renew your membership, it's because if they don't, they'll get fired. My manager fired somebody once because of the following conversation: "Sir, do you know about our membership program" "Yes, and I'm not interested" "Alright sir, is there anything else I can help you with?" Apparently, even though the customer was blatantly uninterested in the membership, since my co-worker did not explain every single detail of the membership to the customer and then attempt again to sell it to the customer, he wasn't doing his job,and was fired. | ||

| No you would not. Trust me. It fucking sucks. They judge all their employees based on how many game reserves they get and how many membership cards they sell. If I don't get at least 15% of my customers to reserve a game (little kids and old ass grandmas included), and at least 15% of those who don't already have a membership to sign up for one every week, then I failed as an employee. It doesn't matter if I sell $10k worth of merchandise, I still failed. They also base your hours off of your performance, which is entirely based on luck, so how many hours you get is based on how many people walk in the door with the intention of reserving a game, basically. The company doesn't give 2 shits about their employees. #122

cristianalo (04/23/2013) [-] Bro, it sucks because you're just looking at the negatives. Yea, there are a few negatives, but there are also positives! I work at Gamestop too, but I love it. Not only is it great to know the inside scoop and shit, but it's also an easy and chill as fuck job. You really dont have to do much. Besides, getting numbers isnt bad. You just gotta know the product and what you're selling and how the business works. I just gotta mention a game coming out and tell them a little bit about it and BAM, reservation right there. Sometimes yes, I feel guilty, but at the same time, Im helping them out dude. Im telling them about good games coming out that they might be interested in. If they are, reservation. If not, oh well. Same with the Power Up Card. I dont recommend it to people who actually wont save. If they wont, I just give them a free card. But if they save money, THEY SAVE MONEY. It sells itself man. Yea, it also depends on the customer. There are some that are just intent on getting the game they want and leave. Nothing else. And it's people like that that make it shitty. But when you legitimately meet a gamer that enjoys playing and talking about games, it's all worthwhile. Win win for the both of you. Plus if your boss is that strict, then they're just douchebags that shouldnt be running a business. My boss is one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met. My district is so laid back you know. And that's what you need. You need compassion, but also to be stern. We are like that and we help each other out and I wanna say we're in the top 10 of the Company. But like I said, you just gotta look at the positives and genuinely enjoy what you're doing and ignore the douchebags that make you're job shitty. Feel free to PM me man and we can talk and vent about this shit cuz like I said, I can relate with you man Also, getting numbers where I work is nigh impossible. There are 3 stores within 5 miles of each other, 2 of them being right across the road from each other. 50% of my customers are older people buying games for small children. My manager also only works me between the hours of 5pm and 9pm, which are peak hours for people who don't give a fuck about reserves or PUR to shop there. I also refuse to deny myself integrity for the company. My manager wants me to brow beat the fuck out of people for numbers, and I won't do it. I try as hard as I can without being overbearing to sell what they want me to sell, but I'll never be a prick just to make the company a few bucks. Sounds to me like you just work for a sweet district. My manager, DM, and RM are all self-righteous pricks who only care about the stores' rankings and not about the people who work for them. My job isn't a laid back chill job either, because if I'm not always cleaning, rearranging, or organizing something, I'm getting in trouble. Yeah, I enjoy meeting cool people and talking to them, but honestly, if they took away the whole reserve/PUR requirement, I'd be so much more willing to work hard for the company. | I check the game to see if it's in "sellable" condition (as per Gamestop's guidelines). I scan the barcode on the case, or if there is no barcode, type the name of the game into the trade-in screen on my computer, and pick the right game from the list that pops up. If the game is in "sellable" condition, that's it, if it is not in "sellable" condition, I have to press another button to mark it for refurbishment. Repeat the process for every game, press the finalize button, and then take the customer's ID (since Gamestops in VA have to abide by the same processes as a pawn shop), then the computer tells me what I'm allowed to give in store credit and what I'm allowed to give in cash. Never in this process am I allowed to change the values the computer gives me, or I will get fired. TL;DR, scan the barcode on the game case, computer tells me how much I can give, if I don't give exactly that, I can be fired. #110

cabbagemayhem (04/23/2013) [-] Right. In fact, sometimes even the majority can act as if they are insane, such as when Germany was seduced by Nazism and murdered millions of the minority. That's right, I said Nazi. They can't. Just because background checks aren't universal doesn't mean that they aren't done. E.g. Adam Lanza tried to buy an AR15, but was turned down specifically because of his mental illness record. That's when he killed his mother and stole her guns. The problem with the bill that was proposed recently is that it would record the purpose of ever check, creating a de facto registry database of who bought or tried to buy what. I agree. What they need to do is make the states submit mental records to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System as most of them do not. Also, whenever a mentally ill person like Lanza tries to buy a firearm, local authorities should be notified to find out what is going on. My biggest problem with the background check legislation that failed was that they were arguing that background checks would be required for online and gun show sales. But online sales can only be shipped to an FFL, where a check is done. And all dealers at gun shows are required to do a check. additionally, mental health care needs to be improved/ be made cheaper. Most healthcare doesn't cover mental checkups, and most people don't even think they need them. So there's a lot of people with mental problems who don't know about it or can't get proper treatment, which kinda contributes to the mass murders. #167

Right, like I said. Why should it matter to me if someone is offended by what i say? Everyone is offended by something. I could say "Man, i sure do love burritos." and someone will jump up and be all pissy and say "No! Tacos are better you piece of shit."
I say stuff about religion because it is my belief that religion poisons society.

Cool. You're an interesting person with very extreme ideals. Do you really think religion poisons society?
That's a pretty intense thought. Where did you come up with it?
Oh, and I am not on behalf of the people you offended. Simply, I am a bystander tends to be curious. I poke at things that interest me. See what they do. I wouldn't mind if you took the time to make a rant, either. I can listen.
Oh, and I'm not here to argue or to debate. Only to take note. The "Why so harsh" ideal was only to get you to talk. Sometimes people, like you, need a catalyst to do and show things I want to see. That's really the only reason I'm here.
But, if you care to, please do tell me why you think this. As in depth as you'd like.

Tell me if you can why a normal functioning person would even contemplate the mass mutilation of child genitalia and then you'll have my answer. But there are other reasons religion is awful.... i'd like to quote Richard Dawkins: "Religion teaches people to be ok with not knowing something." I'm a scientific person and i'm not ok with people saying "Because God did it that way" or "Because the bible says so" when there is no proof that either of these things have any merit in ANY situation. I could write a goddamn book on this
No, religious people are ok. They are just deluded. Deluded into believing something that could not possibly be true, it starts at a young age and stuff... and i'm ok with believing in a creator, but thinking that he takes part in what we perceive as time is ludicrous. It's really just organized religion that i hate... tricking good people into giving up their hard earned money so that they can have some peace of mind. It's the biggest con of all time

Now that was some interesting input. Understanding you more has led to a different perspective. I like it!
Who cannot agree that those who twist religion are sick? From the Crusades to The Inquisition to modern terrorism, those who twist religion can twist its very people.
Its been quite nice talking to you, too. You are, just as I had hoped, a pretty neat guy. Thanks very much for your thoughts! I really do value them. I've always found people interesting. Learning more about beliefs, theories, and ideals of them as cool.
Awaiting Bioshock 3 still

Thought you might find this amusing.
Also,, are you getting bioshock 3?
Also,, are you getting bioshock 3?
I am not, I enjoy cartoons from my youth like TMNT and from what I hear the show is well written, I didn't mean to compare the 2 shows and disgrace avatar but I'm just saying that I might like MLP more, I don't think I could watch avatar without getting pissed off because Funny Junk has completely driven me away/
Seriously, you need to watch avatar. The story is fantastic and funny, and the animation is absolutely fucking awesome. If you're going to consider watching mlp you should at least watch the first season of avatar the last airbender too
So my brother didn't get this joke reference that was towards Ray William Johnson so I told him who he is and why he is a douche...
He comes up to me a few months later after deciding to watch his channel and says "OH MY GOD JAKE, RAY WILLIAM JOHNSON IS SO FUNNY"
He's 12.
Pretty much sums up the demographic for his fan base.
