#652 - Belgium is one of my favorite countries I've traveled to. Beautiful.  [+] (8 new replies) 02/05/2015 on Greetings Euro FJers 0

I think everything will look beautiful if you have the best beer in the world. In fact, nothing else will have to be beautiful, our beer will do it for you.

On the Air Base here in Germany we have a Belgian support unit that is pretty much a bar ran by Belgian military folk. The first beer I had there was Seef.

Ah, I've never had Seef myself. Then again, we have a billion different brands here (probably the same case with Germany). I'd have to spend my entire life to try them all.

That said, the main difference between Belgian beer and German beer is that Belgian brewers are allowed to use spices to add flavour to the beer, whereas German brewers can't/aren't allowed to add spices. This makes German beer also go down much easier.
(Yeah, I'm that guy who followed a beer brewing seminar in high school)

So how'd you like it? Better than German beer or worse?

I prefer the variety of Belgian beer, but I can only have maybe 5 or 6 before I call it a night and grab some water whereas with German beer I can drink a lot more than that and be pretty good.

I don't consider myself lightweight at all, but that Belgian beer hits you good.

Ah, definitely. Only reason why we aren't a country full of drunkards (mostly) is because the good beer (which incidentally is quite heavy on the alcohol percentage) is rather expensive.

I myself can only have a few Gouden Carolussen before I have to stop drinking more. I can drink almost as many Maes cans as I could possibly want, though.

If you think I'm mentioning Gouden Carolus a bit too much, I'll just add in my defense that I live in Mechelen. Home of 't Anker. Official brewer of the Gouden Carolus beer.
They don't only make beer anymore, they've made a special Whisky distilled from the leftovers from the beermaking. It's good, but bloody expensive (35€ for a small bottle).

Either way, I'm presonally convinced my city's beer and whisky is the best, so if you haven't tried either of them, I can wholeheartedly recommend every variety. Be it blond beer, dark beer or "Ambrioso" which is the extremely spiced up version.

I'll have to try it. If there's one thing I love like beer it's whisky. I'll try anything once.

Thank you for serving.

I don't get a chance to ask this kind of question often, so I can't resist. How does the Osprey handle? Is it enjoyable to fly, or is the transition from VTOL to standard flight a pain in the ass?
