That's where we come in. We as Security and Para can grab you and remove you from the scene. We can raise our voice and "jolt you back to reality". At least until you calm down. Because, even if you're panicked, a strong, loud voice can get you to listen up and realize the case. No more of this, I've moved on to other things.

When you see the "Security" or "Paramedic" lettering on our shirt, know that it's our job to keep people healthy and safe. Your panic, is only making things worse. We will work our asses off to keep your loved ones alive, because even the most heartless of us will still help them because paperwork and reports are a bitch. Plus, saving people is a good mark on our record. Once again though, most security and para's will do it because it's human nature to help. I tell you to back away because you're crowding the professionals. It's much in the same way the hospital tells you to sit down and shut up until we fix what's wrong with your loved one.

I know that. But I'm telling you why most people would do that. Humans aren't "logical" beings by nature. Instinct has priority override in certain stimuli.

There is no cameraman, the reporter is out there alone, hence my original comment with the thing called a tripod. He didn't know the cops had already been called, so he's going to call them himself.

The bank employee? He's chasing down the robber, or had already called

Well if it's on a tripod he can move it then call 911, most places put the news first anyway and if more people know the robber's face...

As I said in >>#24, as far as he knows no one has called the cops, so getting the cops on the line so they can get here quicker is more important than getting film of the guy, especially when the bank employee, who already has shown the capacity to identify the robber is on the scene, it's useless to get the robber on film, the most important thing is getting the cops there
User avatar
#34 - elcreepo (01/09/2016) [-]
I think though that the chances of the robber being identified and caught increase if more people see his face

Also, memory can be faulty AND the employee doesn't know the identity of the robber.

So no, it's not useless.

The cops are gonna show up in 5-10 minutes at the quickest. Dude has time to move the camera then call.

Most states allow the defendant do demand a bench (judge) trial rather then a jury trial if they wish for it.

Good. I can see many choosing the bench, unless they are the most charismatic human in existence, where they can get away with pretty much anything if there is a jury.

Yes, lying would be illegal, but people do it. A camcorder isn't proof that the officer didn't think he heard something from the trunk, or proof that some random asshole on the side of the road didn't shout "HE HAS A GUN IN THE CAR" before the guy started recording. And when it comes to any case with a jury, word against word is very important. Because you arn't convincing the judge, your convincing the jury, who have no real law training and will be biased towards whoever has the best case. In most cases between a police officer, and the kind of people in these videos, who appear to be quite loud and rude, the officer is going to have more sympathy. It all comes down to who can garner the most reaction from the jury. Of course most of these wouldn't even be brought into that kind of trail, most of this was probably just a fine or something along those lines, except for the ones who were actually arrested, but regardless, its not unusual for a police officer to use the excuse that they thought they saw a weapon, smelled pot, heard a voice, or something along those lines in a case that most likely wont be scrutinized. Used to work with the police all the time when I was with the fire department, I know my fair share of both good cops, and asshole cops, and trust me, there are a lot of both. But regardless of which you get, you should just not patronize them.
#180 - skebaba (01/07/2016) [-]
That's why juries should be illegal. They are biased as fuck, unless we get a robotic jury. Just as witness testimony is practically useless in reliability. Just put CCTV with sound to monitor every inch possible, so you will always have 100% proof whether someone is innocent or guilty.
