What I don't understand with these people...
They are obviously liberated of having any shame whatsoever, so why not do something else you always wanted? Like buying shit-ton of Lego to build all those lego castles you always wanted to build. I wish I had that brony mentality just so I could let that childhood dream come true
#56 - skaife (11/09/2013) [-]
Pfft, no idea. One of the benefits of coming from a family comprised of loud, unstable alcoholics is that the idea of shame is pretty much self conceived. The quicker you realise that others are too busy worrying about themselves to care about you, the quicker you can get to behaving like an idiot in public.

If you look for the good in something, you will find it, if you search for the dark, it is all you will see.

there was a dark period on funnyjunk a year or so ago partway into season 2 of MLP. Bronies would spam uploads of unfunny pictures from mylittlebrony.com or their shitty OCs.

The other bronies would spam thumb them up. Past page 2 of content, you'd be inundated with a pony pics.

That pissed off most of FJ. Now it's just pettiness. Nobody even uses ponytime anymore.

You know I watched all the MLP episodes a while back, and I enjoyed it. I have never mentioned this or posted anything MLP related on this site because I'm literally scared of what the community might do to me.

Quite honestly you might be better off just watching the show and not conversing with the fandom or getting involved since theres a lot of hate and weird shit.

What I've noticed is that if people don't like something, they will go out of their way to find the bad stuff. That stuff that people are showing below are the kind stuff that bronies cringe at as well. Most bronies I have met are normal people that just happen to like MLP

I find them creepy, and just annoying. I was a brony, then after I watched a pink horse sing to a bunch of rednecks and buffalo about sharing, I was like what the fuck. A few of the things I hate about them I list here.
1. They try desperately to make it seem like MLP is mature.
2. Shipping.
3. The need to consume hasbro merchandise, even though they'll never play with the toys.
4. Leaving the gene pool in an attempt to act like they have a pony girlfriend.
5. Actively shrugging off it's motives such as "love and tolerate," Christ, they fight amongst themselves.
6. Their conventions. Jesus Christ, they run around in costumes from a show for little girls- completely seriously! I don't think even a devout brony could say that that was normal in all honesty.
#143 - anon (11/09/2013) [-]
Had to split this up due to character count.
5. Yes, even I as a Brony will admit that the community has seriously turned their backs on the messages that at the start we had once followed. I myself still try to live by the code of love and tolerate. After all who am I to judge others? Liking MLP is weird, it's not normal I'm fully aware, it's strange yes, but you know what? I'm ok with that. It's not right nor fair to say someone is wrong, a faggot, a fool, a retard etc just because they like something you don't or they like something and you can't understand why. I'll never get the obsession with game of thrones or breaking bad etc, they're good shows but I don't get the hype, same with doctor who. But I don't go hating every time is see a Dr.who reference or a crossover etc (which there are often quite a bit of) because I know that I like what I like and they like what they like, I wouldn't like them ragging on me, so why should I them. TL;DR not all us bronies are as you guys think
#140 - anon (11/09/2013) [-]
Those are some interesting points you have there.
1. As opposed to what? Every other anime/tv series/book/movie out there? As if DBZ fans haven't tried to make it seem cooler then in is? How about naruto fans? Bleach? How the bronies act about MLP in that regard is no different from any other fandom.
2. Pretty much the exact same example as number 1. Just with a different subject.
3. I'll be honest and say I'm a Brony myself, no point in lying, but I don't consume hasbro products like you seem to think every Brony does, because we don't. Then again you never really said it was aimed at every Brony, but it was implied.
4. Same argument again as points 1&2 just different subject matter. How many crazy anime fans have claimed a character from said show is their bf/gf?
6. (Yes I'm going to come back to 5) this again is the same argument as the previous ones, how many anime conventions have people dress up like the characters from the show?
#64 - skaife (11/09/2013) [-]
And to those thumbing down a casual conversation, I don't really mind. Everyone can have an opinion. But know that thumbing people down for having a different opinion seems a bit childish, and prevents the fj community from maturing.

Just a thought.

An old friend of mine occasionally goes on 30-minute-long rants about his more recent roommates in college. It's been a parade of bronies, and they're all horrible people on just about every level. The fact that they watch a show for little girls is usually the least off thing about them. They just take it to a really disturbing, unhealthy level.

I should point out that this doesn't mean that I think that all bronies are horrible people, just, well, most of them. Furthermore, with their horrifying presence on the internet (see just about anything else in this comment section for that), I have a really hard time NOT disliking bronies based on principle.

#51 - skaife (11/09/2013) [-]
Not to sound like a liberal hemp shirt wearing twat, but pretty much every hobby has weird ass sects and behaviours associated with them. Not in the defense of this, this is fucking weird, but using it as a benchmark of an entire group of people is pretty strange.

Liking a show meant for little girls is one thing

Acting like it's some sort of lifestyle, and pretending you are really open minded because you do, that's something else

#149 - pseudobob (11/09/2013) [-]
There's absolutely nothing wrong with being outside of the target audience for a show and still liking it, even if that target audience is little girls. like power puff girls and people used to like the original MLP, too I like MLP, or at least I liked the first two seasons, and maybe I'm being a little ironic (or 'euphoric', god I hate that meme) but I do enjoy the fact that very few people can see past their rage and respect MLP for being a decent show.

But, in the end, you're absolutely right. Bronies take it way too far. I feel like they're actively mispronouncing and misspelling their own slogan. What should be "Love and Tolerate" is actually "Love Intolerance". Feeding trolls is the one thing bronies are really good at, and it's bringing a terrible name to the entire franchise. Hell, the moment you bring up anything regarding ponies or even horses, either a brony will start posting irrelevant shite, a hater will start a rally, or, usually, both.

It's tiring, I tell you, it really is. Why can't this just stop already?

my vision of death is that it doesn't matter what's on the other side. everything becomes irelevant. death can be whatever you want it to be. however, this body stays behind, that's for sure.

not to imply that anyone cares deeply about my opinion. just thought it sounded somewhat interesting

Well it's true isn't it.

Either there is an afterlife and we'll be able to enjoy it, or there isn't and since we won't exist anymore we can't care about it either.

I feel like when people say this, they don't fully understand that it's not just that you won't care, you cease to be entirely. whether or not you care is irrelevant.

Now I'm thinking about this shit again.
